Big E has been away from in-ring action due to a neck injury!
The former WWE Champion, Big E broke his neck during a match with Brawling Brutes in March 2022. The neck injury took him away from in-ring action for over two years. Big E provided an update on his social media handles, that he is suffering from fractures to his C1 vertebrae and C6 vertebrae and there is no issue on the ligament or spinal cord.
He also said he was advised not to wrestle, but the fans kept hoping he would return to WWE TV someday. At this stage, a WWE veteran gave a major update on the New Day member, which could disappoint few.
Big E’s WWE in-ring status
Jonathan Coachman recently appeared for an interview with Tommy Carlucci on ‘Behind the Turnbuckle: Last Word’. During the interview, Coachman seemingly confirmed Big E’s in-ring status saying that Big E will never wrestle again, as a simple chokeslam or a bodyslam could paralyze him forever.
Coachman said,
“Tommy, he [Big E] is never wrestling again. He’s never wrestling again. I know he wants to. I would never allow him to because he would take one bad, just a simple chokeslam or a bodyslam for him to be paralyzed forever.”
Big E himself spoke about his neck injury months ago saying that his injury status is unchanged as his C1 has healed fibrously, but the new bone hasn’t formed. This makes him not medically cleared yet and says that he may never be cleared. The New Day member however said that he is blessed as he is free from pain and healthy.
Bix E on X said,
“Hey, all! Two year neck scans are in. Things are unchanged. My C1 has healed fibrously but has not formed a new bone. I’m not medically cleared and truthfully, I may never be cleared. But I am blessed to be free of pain, immensely happy and otherwise healthy. Life is good.”
Big E is currently undergoing stem cell infusion for the last two months. In July 2024, he gave an update saying that he felt great, however, his status didn’t change. But gave hope to their fans saying that he is eager to see what the stem cells could help him.
During the time away from WWE in-ring action, he was spotted backstage doing promotions for the events, and products and being in the expert panel for WWE’s Premium Live Events.
