Mariah May is gone. It is now Blake Monroe.
Mariah May has chosen a new name following her stunning shift to WWE. The WWE Universe was taken aback last week at the conclusion of the NXT tapings. Mariah May, one of AEW’s most prominent stars, had arrived at the promotion’s Stamford headquarters and left everyone talking.
She said that WWE NXT was set to become glamorous, continuing her AEW character within the business. However, May’s identity has been altered, as revealed in a glamorous NXT segment that casts the former AEW Women’s World Champion in a new light.
But all before that, why did she choose the name Blake Monroe? She is a popular figure in the pro wrestling world. After her successful rivalry with Toni Storm, Mariah May is now a household name, then why did she change her name to Blake Monroe?
So, here is a possible reason behind her selecting Blake Monroe as her WWE ring name. Not many know, but Mariah May has a niece, whose name is Blake. So, she put her first name as a tribute to her niece and lastly, Monroe, could be a tribute to the great Marilyn Monroe.
Those who are new to May’s work. She is great at theatrics, and her rivalry with Toni Storm is proof of how differently and creatively a storyline can be built. So, she choosing the name Blake Monroe shouldn’t come as a surprise to many.
Blake Monroe drew lots of comparisons with Sabrina Carpenter on WWE NXT
Blake Monroe is part of WWE NXT, marking a major change for the former AEW Women’s World Champion. On the June 10 edition of WWE NXT, the former Mariah May confirmed her new moniker with a video package that may have looked very familiar.
On X, fans noticed how Monroe’s package bore a striking resemblance to footage from award-winning artist Sabrina Carpenter.
Monroe made her WWE NXT debut on June 3, and her appearance went viral almost immediately. Monroe, who appeared on the balcony during a sequence highlighting numerous silver brand ladies, made it plain what her aim is: the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.
The Glamour’s influence on WWE NXT will continue on the June 17 show, when she signs a contract confirming her status as a WWE Superstar. Monroe exudes confidence, and it may only be a matter of time until the British star is recognized as a champion again.
