WWE might have teased some upcoming showdowns this year after WrestleMania 41.
WWE is coming off as one of the most successful weeks of the year, which led to their premier show, WrestleMania 41. The two-night grand spectacle was a huge hit for the company and delivered some captivating matches and memorable moments.
The conclusion to many showdowns and the fallout on the RAW after WrestleMania 41 hinted at new storylines and matches that could be blockbusters for the company. Here are seven matches that WWE should book this year after the conclusion of WrestleMania 41.
7. Rhea Ripley vs IYO Sky
IYO Sky managed to retain her WWE Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41.
However, the Genius of the Skies was attacked by top NXT stars on the RAW after Mania, only to be saved by Mami. The stare-off that the duo had could be a hint at another one-on-one title showdown between Ripley and SKY.
6. Rey Fenix vs Penta
The wrestling fans have seen Rey Fenix and Penta dominate the tag team scene all over the world. Now that they are singles stars on SmackDown and RAW, the fans would be thrilled to see them collide against each other. A match between the real-life Lucha brothers could be one of the biggest blockbusters in WWE history.
5. Dominik Mysterio vs Finn Balor
Dominik Mysterio had his first WrestleMania moment last week when he won a huge Fatal 4-Way to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. However, fans evidently witnessed the tensions between him and his Judgment Day cohort, Finn Balor.
This could put them on a collision course and end with a title match between the two allies at a major WWE Premium Live Event.
4. Roman Reigns & CM Punk vs Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker
The RAW after WrestleMania 41 ended with a major shocker. At The Show of Shows, Seth Rollins became a Paul Heyman Guy. The Wiseman betrayed both Roman Reigns and CM Punk to align with Rollins.
On the RAW after Mania, Bron Breakker joined their ranks with him and Rollins taking out Punk and Reigns. This could possibly lead to heated rivals, CM Punk and Roman Reigns, joining forces and taking down their common enemy in a huge tag team match.
3. Becky Lynch vs Lyra Valkyria
Becky Lynch made her return to WWE at WrestleMania 41 and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Lyra Valkyria. However, on the RAW after Mania, the duo lost the title back to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.
This led to Lynch turning on Lyra and attacking her in the process. Lynch’s actions might lead to her challenging Valkyria for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
2. Gunther vs Jey Uso
Gunther might not sit quietly after Jey Uso embarrassed him at WrestleMania 41 by making him tap out and taking away his World Heavyweight Championship.
The Ring General might come after the YEET man to regain his title in a rematch that could see a different stipulation this time to produce a more gruesome encounter.
1. John Cena vs Randy Orton
John Cena did the unthinkable and defeated Cody Rhodes to win his 17th WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41. Of course, he had to take Travis Scott’s help and timely use of the title belt to do it.
But Cena’s celebrations were cut short on the RAW after WrestleMania when his iconic rival, Randy Orton, dropped him with a surprise RKO. With WWE Backlash taking place in Orton’s hometown, the stage might have been set for this epic showdown for the very last time.
