Some top matches have been booked for the ‘biggest part of the summer’
SummerSlam 2024 promises to be one of WWE’s biggest shows. It’s shaping up to be the most meaningful event since WrestleMania 40, with huge championship matchups and heated drama on the way. Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa, Damian Priest will battle Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship, and Rhea Ripley will want to recapture her Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre will settle their differences with Seth Rollins as the special guest referee, while LA Knight hopes to dethrone Logan Paul as the United States Champion. Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Nia Jax, while Tiffany Stratton lurks with her Money in the Bank briefcase. Sami Zayn will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker.
This show has the potential to be great, but WWE must avoid a few mistakes to guarantee it sets the correct tone for the future. Here are three things WWE must avoid if it wants to present the best SummerSlam 2024 and set the tone for the months ahead.
3. Resist a hasty Tiffany Stratton Money in the Bank cash-in at WWE SummerSlam
Tiffany Stratton owns the Money in the Bank bag, and while SummerSlam may appear to be an ideal time to cash in, it may be too soon. Historically, many successful Money in the Bank holders have benefitted by spending more time with the suitcase, which they use to build anticipation and create a memorable cash-in experience.
By carrying the bag for an extended time, Stratton can develop as a character and increase her visibility. A hurried cash-in may lose the opportunity for a more impactful and storyline-rich moment later on. WWE should allow Stratton to bide her time and cash in when the time is perfect, resulting in a larger reward.

2. WWE shouldn’t miss the opportunity to crown LA Knight
LA Knight has been on the verge of greatness for quite some time, and it’s about time he won a title. His popularity matches that of Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso, and his charm and in-ring abilities make him an ideal candidate for the US Championship.
Logan Paul has held the championship for more than 260 days, yet he has only defended it twice. While Paul’s famous reputation has enhanced his position, it’s time for a change. Knight is the right choice to elevate the US championship to new heights. WWE must grab this chance to crown Knight at SummerSlam, giving him the accolades he deserves while also electrifying the championship situation.
1. Avoid cutting Cody Rhodes’ title reign short for Bloodline drama
Cody Rhodes’ journey with The Bloodline has been a major storyline for the past year, culminating in his triumph over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. He now faces a new challenge in the form of Solo Sikoa, the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief.
Rhodes has been the champion for more than 100 days, but his reign appears to be just beginning. Dropping the belt to Sikoa early would weaken Rhodes’ WrestleMania moment and make his reign appear insignificant. Furthermore, a Sikoa victory would likely refocus attention on Roman Reigns, which would be a step back rather than forward. WWE should let Rhodes overcome this test and prolong his reign, cementing his place as a top champion.
