5. Brock Lesnar (SummerSlam 2021)
At SummerSlam 2021, Roman Reigns defeated John Cena to retain his Universal Championship in the main event of the show. After the match, Roman Reigns posed with the Universal title with Paul Heyman. The moment, Brock Lesnar made his return after one and a half years after WrestleMania 36 to confront Roman Reigns. Lesnar was in a completely new look with the long hair and the jeans. Brock Lesnar’s return drove 100+ Million views and became one of the highest viewed returns in the history of WWE.
4. John Cena (Money in the Bank 2021)
At Money in the Bank 2021, Roman Reigns defeated the Rated ‘R’ Superstar Edge to defend his Universal Championship. After the match, John Cena made his surprise return after one and a half years after WrestleMania 36. Cena confronted Roman and taunted his “You Can’t See Me” gesture at Reigns. John Cena’s return drove 120+ Million views and is currently the fourth most viewed WWE returns of all time.
3. CM Punk (Survivor Series 2023)
At Survivor Series 2023, in the closing moments, CM Punk made his long-awaited WWE return after nearly ten years and shocked the entire WWE Universe. Punk had a controversial departure from the company in 2014 and nobody thought that the second city saint would ever return to WWE. Punk’s return made Hell freeze over, which drove a total viewership of 130+ Million, making it the third most-viewed WWE return of all time.
2. Edge (Royal Rumble 2020)
At Royal Rumble 2020, Edge made his return entering the men’s Royal Rumble match at #21. It was the first match for Edge since 2011, after announcing his retirement due to a neck injury. Edge kicking out of retirement to make his WWE return shocked the entire WWE Universe. The Rated ‘R’ Superstar drove a total viewership of 150+ Million, making his return the second most viewed WWE return of all time.
1. Roman Reigns (SummerSlam 2024)
At SummerSlam 2024, during the Bloodline Rules match between Cody Rhodes & Solo Sikoa, for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Roman Reigns made his WWE return after four months and made the entire WWE Universe go crazy. The Original Tribal Chief attacked Solo Sikoa and helped Cody Rhodes retain his title. Roman’s return drove a total viewership of 205+ views making it the highest-viewed WWE returns of all time.
