Following months of speculation, reigning Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer and NXT North American Champion Myles Borne officially went public with their relationship last year.
In a recent conversation with Denise Salcedo, Borne provided a sneak peek into their relationship, even revealing who made the first move, a story that contrasts with his on-screen persona.
Stephanie Vaquer made the first move
During the appearance, Myles revealed that although he felt an instant connection, nerves often got the better of him, and instead of talking to her, he found himself deliberately walking the other way to dodge the encounter.
The NXT North American Champion even avoided Vaquer backstage, skipping meals just to avoid Vaquer as he was building up the courage to say what to her.
“You know, honestly, when we first saw each other, we noticed. And then, for the first couple of weeks, we knew we liked each other, but I would try to build up the courage to talk to her, And as soon as we crossed paths, I’d go the opposite direction. I promise, every time. And she noticed it.
I remember one time we were backstage, and I was coming in through one door to go to catering, and she was coming through another door, and as our paths intersected, I turned back around and walked out, I didn’t even eat. I said, ‘Nope, I’m not eating now. I’m just going to be hungry,’ because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to say to her.“
It was, in fact, Vaquer who made the first move, reaching out to Borne and inviting him to dinner. Once he built up the courage to respond, he immediately felt a strong connection.
Eventually she gave me no choice. She messaged me and said, ‘Hey, let’s hang out. Let’s go have dinner.’ And, you know, we did, That’s when I was like, okay, now I have no choice. I have to just build up the courage and talk to her. And it was great. It was like the connection from the first day. She’s just a genuinely amazing person, and I’m lucky, you know.
Borne even addressed all the attention that he has gotten from WWE fans for dating the Women’s World Champion, noting that he wants to win in every aspect of life.
“So, yeah, all the guys out there who are so mad. Hey, I get it. I get it. But like I said, I want to win in every aspect in life, and that’s one of the aspects,”

Myles Borne is currently scheduled to defend the NXT North American title against Johnny Gargano at the 2026 edition of NXT Stand & Deliver this Saturday.
On the other hand, Vaquer will battle the 2026 women’s Royal Rumble winner, Liv Morgan, with the Women’s World title on the line at the 42nd edition of WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
