Two new Women’s titles were introduced in WWE in recent weeks
There’s growing buzz that WWE may be leaning towards crowning Natalya as the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion. WrestleVotes recently shared insights during a Backstage Pass Q&A, suggesting there’s notable backstage support for the veteran superstar.
“We spoke last week on this show about how I’d like it to be Natalya. I did hear some feedback with some sentiments that were similar from sources that said they would like it to be Natalya as well. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be her, but there is some favouritism maybe that would like to see her win the Intercontinental Championship,” WrestleVotes revealed.
The Women’s Intercontinental Title was introduced shortly after WWE unveiled the Women’s United States Championship, adding more prestige and opportunities to the women’s division. Both belts are being decided through tournaments, with the Women’s United States Title tournament wrapping up at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.
The timeline for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship final hasn’t been announced yet, but the tournament is heating up. Lyra Valkyria and Dakota Kai have already secured spots in the semi-finals. Natalya, is all set to compete in a high-stakes Triple Threat Match against Kairi Sane and Alba Fyre in hopes of advancing. The other remaining match features Raquel Rodriguez, Zoey Stark, and Kayden Carter battling for a semi-final spot.
Natalya recently shared her thoughts on this historic opportunity via social media, emphasizing her drive to leave a lasting legacy.
“I have fought to be a champion my entire career; acquiring 6 world records for outworking every woman that’s ever stepped foot in [WWE],” Natalya said. “I want what I hope every person in this company wants, WHICH IS TO MATTER. I’m ready to make history as the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion.”
Fans will be watching closely as Natalya embarks on this journey to etch her name in WWE history. Could this tournament be her moment to shine and cement her legacy as a trailblazer in women’s wrestling? Stay tuned!
