‘No real big-time direction’ for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes currently: Report

Cody Rhodes is the current Undisputed WWE Champion, who defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to become the champion after two years of pursuits. The American Nightmare had a long path to achieve the massive goal to finish his story & begin a new era. Cody winning the WWE title became the asset of the Blue brand and is in a completely new place surrounded by new talents.

The Champ is all set to defend his title on the line against AJ Styles at Backlash 2024 in LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. Ahead of his first title defense a backstage report reveals the upcoming plans for Cody Rhodes.

Upcoming plans for Cody Rhodes

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE has no real big time directions for Cody Rhodes until The Rock & Roman Reigns return to the company. It is reported that Randy Orton was the other biggest star on the roster, but there is nothing to do with that direction.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter,

“[Cody] Rhodes has no real big-time direction until Rock and Roman Reigns are back in the picture. The other biggest star on the brand is Randy Orton, but they’re doing nothing to tease anything in that direction.”

The Rock already had a face-off with Cody Rhodes during the Raw after WrestleMania 40 to make his intentions clear of what he is gonna do when he comes back. He also sent a hidden message by holding Cody’s title on his shoulder and also by offering an unknown gift to Cody Rhodes. Rock is expected to return later this year during the SummerSlam time or by next year, however nothing has been made official yrt.

Roman Reigns on the other hand is reported to be on a long hiatus. He is reportedly working on a Hollywood project and is expected to return later during the time of SummerSlam. Heyman has recently withdrawn him from the Draft stating that he would not be returning in the near future. Although it is revealed to be Heyman’s claim & not Roman’s one, there isn’t any update from The Tribal Chief’s side.
