The United States Championship has a great legacy in WWE history!

The WWE United States Championship is one of the prestigious secondary professional wrestling championships, which is currently an asset of WWE. The Championship originated in 1975 and has been active to date, came across NWA, WCW and is currently in WWE.

The title has witnessed a total of 102 different champions and various age groups. Here we take a look at the top five oldest WWE United States Champions in WWE history.

5. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho at the 2017 Payback pay-per-view defeated Kevin Owens to become the United States Champion for the second time. Jericho was 46 years and 5 months old at that time, which makes him the fifth oldest WWE Superstar to win the US title. Jericho’s reign didn’t last too long as he lost the title back to Kevin Owens, two days later on SmackDown.

4. R-Truth

On the January 29, 2019 episode of SmackDown, R-Truth defeated Shinsuke Nakamura and won the United States Championship for the second time. Truth was 47 years 10 months old at that time, which makes him the fourth oldest WWE Superstar to hold the US title. Truth held the title for 35 days and lost to Samoa Joe.

3. Finlay

On the July 11, 2006, episode of SmackDown, Finlay challenged Bobby Lashley and won the United States Championship for the first and only time. Finlay was 48 years and 6 months old at that time, which makes him the third oldest WWE Superstar to hold the US title. Finlay held the title for 49 days and lost to Mr. Kennedy.

2. Rey Mysterio

On the August 11, 2023, episode of SmackDown, Rey Mysterio replaced Santos Escobar to challenge Austin Theory and won the United States Championship for the third time. Rey Mysterio was 48 years 8 months old at the time, which makes him the second oldest wrestler to win the US title & the second Hall of Famer to hold the title. Rey held the title for 85 days and lost the title to Logan Paul at Crown Jewel 2023.

1. Bret Hart

On the May 17, 2010 episode of Raw, Bret Hart challenged The Miz and won the United States Championship for the fifth time. Bret Hart was 52 years 10 years old at that time, which makes him the oldest WWE Superstar to win the US title and the first Hall of Famer to hold the title. He held the title for 7 days and relinquished the title after becoming the Raw General Manager.
