‘The Nigerian Giant’ has made history

Pro Wrestling NOAH surprised the globe when it announced that Omos will fight in NOAH The New Year on January 1, 2025. The match ultimately took place, and the outcome was shocking: Omos won the GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.

Omos teamed up with Jack Morris to face Naomichi Marufuji and Takashi Sugiura for the GHC Tag Team Championships in a much-anticipated battle.

Omos proved to the world that he truly belongs in Japan as he returned to the ring for the first time since April 2024, competing in WWE’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Omos and Morris had strong tag team chemistry as they overpowered the veterans.

When all was said and done, Omos won the match by pinning Marufuji. Thus, he and Jack Morris became the new GHC Tag Team Champions. This marked the second championship of Omos’ wrestling career after his RAW Tag Team Title win with AJ Styles a few years ago.

Omos wasn’t alone at NOAH representing WWE

Omos was not the only WWE celebrity to appear at NOAH The New Year 2025. Shinsuke Nakamura, the current United States Champion, was also in Japan for the event. Following his recent comeback to SmackDown Live and convincing victory over LA Knight for the US championship, the King of Strong Style came prepared for a highly anticipated match under the Pro Wrestling NOAH banner.

On January 1, 2025, the King of Strong Style battled Ulka Sasaki at Tokyo’s legendary Nippon Budokan. Nakamura’s match was certainly highly anticipated, and it delivered in spades.

It was a closely contested battle that might have gone either way for both contestants. Nakamura was definitely eager to stop the contest as quickly as possible, which he accomplished. Sasaki had Nakamura in a triangle choke, but the referee was down, so Nakamura poured mist into Sasaki’s eyes.

In the dying stages of the match, he used a Styles Clash and then nailed Sasaki with two Kinshashas to win, as he triumphantly returned to NOAH.

This was Nakamura’s first match in NOAH in two years; he previously battled the Great Muta at NOAH’s New Year event on January 1st, 2023, and beat the Japanese legend. since a result, we’ll have to wait and see whether Nakamura makes any more appearances at NOAH events in the future, since fans clearly enjoyed watching him at NOAH’s New Year’s concert today.
