Seth Rollins will referee the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre match at WWE SummerSlam 2024
On the June 22, 2024, episode of Monday Night Raw, CM Punk made his return and announced that he was medically cleared to compete and called out Drew McIntyre for a brawl. Drew came out full of anger, however he didn’t want to have his hands on Punk. Punk tried to jump on McIntyre, but the security guards and officials stopped them.
Adam Pearce then addressed them and made the CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre match official for SummerSlam 2024. However, he brought a twist by announcing Seth Rollins as the Special Guest Referee for the match, as Drew has a referee problem. As Rollins is declared as the special guest referee for the match, there is no possibility of a clean win. So here we take a look at the three possible finishes for the CM Punk vs Seth Rollins match at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
3. Rollins makes Drew McIntyre win
Seth Rollins has a long heated rivalry with both Punk & McIntyre, however, both Rollins and McIntyre stand on the same page when it comes to the feud with Punk. Both Rollins and McIntyre hate Punk being in WWE ever since the beginning and have been showing their hatred for him. As they fall on the same line, Rollins would likely help Drew secure the win over Punk at SummerSlam 2024
2. Rollins make CM Punk win
Similar to the 1997 SummerSlam match between Bret Hart and The Undertaker, where Shawn Michaels despite having a feud with Brethart, made Hart win. Seth Rollins could help CM Punk win, by accidentally knocking out Drew McIntyre. This could become a big feud between Drew McIntyre & Seth Rollins and eventually continue as a trio feud.
1. Double disqualification
Seth Rollins has been having beef with both Punk and McIntyre for a very long time and has been waiting for a ring opportunity to strike them. Rollins as a referee can trigger both the men, as they can’t have their hands on the referee, which could lead to a suspension. As a referee, Rollins can freely attack both the men and could cost both their wins, by counting it as a double disqualification, without declaring a winner. This could turn into a triangular feud and result in a Triple Threat match in the upcoming events, most probably at Bad Blood.
