The American Nightmare lost the Undisputed title in April!
âThe American Nightmareâ Cody Rhodes has been away from WWE programming since losing the Undisputed title in the main event of WrestleMania 41 against John Cena. The loss shattered his title reign, which began at WrestleMania 40.
Since his hiatus, there have been speculations of his return, however, the American Nightmare is yet to make his return. A recent report from Dave Meltzer has potentially revealed Rhodesâ return date.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Cody Rhodes is set to be the top star at a major WWE event in Mexico, with the appearance expected to happen ârelatively soon.â
âThey will be doing a WWE show there. I donât know the date yet but I know theyâre planning a big show with Cody Rhodes as the top star on that show, which means a major show there relatively soon,â Meltzer said.
Earlier reports indicated that WWE plans to host three events in Mexico soon, centered around a show called âSupershow Mexico.â While the exact date and location are still unknown, it is confirmed that the event will take place in Mexico. AAA could be involved in some way, especially since WWE recently acquired the Lucha Libre promotion.
Furthermore, there has been no official confirmation from the Stamford-based promotion regarding Rhodesâ return, However, PWInsider has reported that Travis Scott and John Cena are set to team up to battle Cody Rhodes and another opponent at Money in the Bank 2025.
Cody Rhodes has removed âQuarterbackâ from his Twitter bio
During his absence, Cody Rhodes has not just been away from WWE but social media as well; his most recent post is during WrestleMania 41 week. The American Nightmare still hasnât posted anything, however, he has changed something, which has caught the attention of many fans.
The American Nightmare has long fancied himself as WWEâs quarterback, this reflected in his social media bio. However, after losing the title, Rhodes recently removed âQuarterbackâ from his Twitter (X) bio.
Rhodesâ self-given title slowly became an iconic nickname for him, and his removal has made many fans emotional, while others believe that it is the beginning of something new from the former Undisputed Champion.
