WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event January 2026 goes to Montreal.
Ahead of the Royal Rumble PLE, WWE is set to deliver the January 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. The first edition of SNME in 2026 is set to emanate live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
This will mark the first Saturday Night’s Main Event in Canada since XXXIV in Toronto back in 2007. The event will also serve as the lead-in to the first major WWE pay-per-view of 2025, scheduled a week later in Saudi Arabia.
Ahead of the first edition of SNME in 2026, let us take a look at the four potential spoilers that might be in store for WWE fans in Montreal.
4. RHIYO could continue their dominance as Women’s Tag Team Champions

Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY have quickly established themselves as a dominant and highly popular duo since capturing the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Their title win on the first anniversary of WWE Raw on Netflix positioned them as a centerpiece act rather than a transitional team.
Facing Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez, the champions enter their first defense with significant momentum. Judgment Day has already attempted to gain the upper hand through numbers, but that tactic has historically backfired against Ripley in particular.
A successful defense would reinforce Ripley and Iyo as a long-term pairing and keep the division stable heading into WrestleMania season. It would also allow Morgan to shift focus toward singles ambitions without the distraction of tag gold.

3. Jacob Fatu may derail Cody Rhodes’ momentum again

There is no shortage of tension between Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu, especially after Fatu’s interference directly contributed to Rhodes losing his Undisputed WWE Championship opportunity against Drew McIntyre. That moment reframed Fatu as a major obstacle rather than a background threat.
Saturday Night’s Main Event marks Fatu’s first televised match since his return, and WWE often uses such moments to reestablish dominance. At the same time, Rhodes is navigating uncertainty following consecutive high-profile setbacks.
A decisive moment, whether through a clean victory, disqualification, or chaotic finish, could further intensify this rivalry while protecting both competitors. Regardless of the outcome, escalation appears inevitable.
2. Sami Zayn could capitalize on the Montreal setting

The fatal four-way match to determine the next Undisputed WWE Championship contender is arguably the most consequential bout on the card. Randy Orton, Damian Priest, Trick Williams, and Sami Zayn each bring credibility, but the setting may play a critical role.
Zayn’s history in Montreal is well documented, and WWE has never shied away from leaning into hometown energy for pivotal moments. A victory here would send Zayn to the Royal Rumble to challenge Drew McIntyre, rekindling a title chase that has remained unfinished.
From a storytelling standpoint, this outcome aligns with Zayn’s long-term arc and adds emotional weight to the championship picture.
Randy Orton’s legacy and Damian Priest’s past rivalry with McIntyre make both viable contenders on paper. However, advancing either man would revisit familiar ground rather than push the narrative forward.
Trick Williams, while rising rapidly, is still acclimating to main roster storytelling. A title match between two heels at the Royal Rumble would also be an unusual creative choice.
A Zayn victory threads the needle between experience, fan engagement, and fresh stakes without disrupting existing character alignments.
1. AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura could end up with Gunther interfering

AJ Styles’ confrontation with Shinsuke Nakamura is rooted in pride rather than championships. With a career-threatening match against Gunther looming, Styles is wrestling not just to win, but to prove he still belongs at the elite level.
Nakamura’s challenge forced Styles to confront that question head-on. A win would reaffirm Styles’ confidence heading into his biggest test yet. But with Gunther as a threat, it can be expected that the match could end in a no-contest (disqualification) with Gunther attacking Styles, building the SNME attack as WWE Royal Rumble comes closer.
