Top three possible storylines for John Cena heading into Road to WWE WrestleMania 41

John Cena will soon start his retirement tour

At WrestleMania 2025, WWE fans will watch John Cena salute the camera and run down to the ring for the final time. Cena’s first WrestleMania match occurred at WrestleMania XX, when he defeated the Big Show to win the United States Championship more over two decades ago.

Fast forward to WWE WrestleMania 41 and Cena will have a 10-5 record on the Grandest Stage of All. Cena has faced Shawn Michaels, The Rock and The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but who will he face in his final match at the Showcase of the Immortals?

John Cena has several pathways to WrestleMania. The Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber might lead to a championship match in Vegas. Cena may even find himself working with younger talent in the buildup to the two-night extravaganza.

So here are the three stars John Cena may face in his last Mania battle:

John Cena vs Cody Rhodes

We can’t discuss world champions without addressing the current face of the company, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. A hypothetical match between the two is expected to occur in 2025. The former king of the hill vs the present face that rules the show.

Cena and Rhodes can easily provide a face-versus-face dynamic, which has previously worked well. Fans may expect a continuation of the Cena/Rock conflict at WrestleMania 28, with Cena slamming the People’s Champion for being a part-timer and departing for Hollywood.

John Cena vs Gunther

Fans expect Cena to aim for a record-breaking 17th WWE championship in 2025, as this will be his final stint with the business. As it stands, Cena and Ric Flair share the current record, but WWE may call the shots on Cena, who has won all of his world championships in WWE.

Gunther seems to be the most probable of the two world champions to challenge Cena at WrestleMania. The heel/face dynamic, a first-time encounter and an unknown result make this an intriguing match between the Greatest of All Time and the Ring General.

John Cena vs Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns is one of the greatest WWE Superstars of this era. We already saw the last sequel between John Cena & Roman Reigns. But, it’s been a long. Then the Tribal Chief defeated Cena to retain his WWE championship sending him back on a hiatus.

If there is a scenario that John Cena is unable to face for a championship, then who could be a better superstar than Roman Reigns to face at the shows of shows.
