Four possible surprises that might be in store for fans at WWE Backlash 2026

Some shocking events might transpire tonight.

Live from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida, the 2026 edition of WWE Backlash will deliver five high-intense matches, with major stakes on the line. The World Heavyweight and the United States title will be contested at the PLE.

Meanwhile, Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker will settle their score in a grudge match. In a second grudge match, Iyo Sky will take on Asuka. Last but not least, Danhausen will team up with a mystery partner to take on the team of the Miz and Kit Wilson.

Before the lights go out and the pyros explode in the Benchmark Arena, let us take a look at the four potential suprises that might be in store for WWE fans.

4. Main Events ends in DQ

Jacob Fatu on the go-home show of SmackDown has warned the Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) against intereing in the match against Roman Reigns. While it seems like the Usos might not do so, Solo Sikoa, along with his MFTs, might just interfere in the match.

Solo has made it clear that Roman is not his Tribal Chief, and has some score to settle with Fatu, who took down the entire faction single-handedly two weeks in a row. A possible interference from the MFTs might end the title match in disqualification, saving both stars from taking the pinfall loss.

3. Danhausen’s mystery partner

As noted, Danhausen will have to find a tag team partner for the tag team match against Kit Wilson and The Miz. Danhausen has been trying to recruit a tag partner, but has not found any success. He even tried to clone himself after Wilson mockingly suggested that the only person toxic enough to team with Danhausen is Danhausen.

That said, WWE might have planned a huge surprise partner for Danhausen, while odds and fans suggest it to be Danhausen’s own ‘Cola-man Punk’ CM Punk, reports have hinted at Jelly Roll being speculated as the tag partner with the company.

2. Bron Breakker wins

Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker will lock horns for the first time in their feud since Breakker turned on Rollins and kicked him out of the faction. The match also marks Breakker’s first in-ring appearance since the Royal Rumble.

It is without a doubt the start of the feud and not the conclusion, which means whatever happens, the feud will only pick up steam after Backlash.

WWE might opt for Breakker to win the match as it marks his in-ring return. Additionally, the match will also further help make Rollins the underdog and in need of creating his own faction or at least joining forces with someone to counter the Vision.

1. Kairi Sane returns

In another grudge match, Iyo Sky will take on her former Senpai, Asuka. This match will take place in the absence of Kairi Sane, someone who has been a focal point of this feud. Despite expectations that the match would take place at WrestleMania, it was delayed, and in the meantime, Kairi was part of the recent departures after WrestleMania.

According to reports, within WWE, there is optimism that Sane will return at Backlash at least to finish the storyline. This must be a no-brainer for WWE, and they should bring back Sane to give closure to the feud that has been going on since late 2025.
