The 16-time WWE Champion will kick off his retirement tour next month

The greatest wrestler of all time, John Cena is ready to kick off his retirement tour next month during the debut episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. The debut episode is set for January 6 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, U.S.A.

Cena announced his plans to retire from in-ring competition at the end of 2025 during the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE. The 2024 edition of WrestleMania will be the final Mania for Cena and as such many fans are speculating about his opponents for the grandest stage.

Ahead of Cena’s last run let us take a look at three potential opponents that can face him at the grandest stage in April.

3. Logan Paul

The former US Champion Logan Paul made his first WWE appearance since losing the title to LA Knight during the WWE Raw on Netflix kickoff show. Paul joined the Red brand in his appearance at the Stamford-based headquarters.

Shortly after his appearance, a report by Viper of PW Nexus revealed that Cena is expected to face the former United States Champion in a big PLE (Premium Live Event), which could turn out to be at WrestleMania 41.

However, a recent report from WrestleVotes stated that the idea of booking a John Cena vs Logan Paul match at WrestleMania 41 has received strong opposition from several members of WWE Creative.

Although the promotion has not yet provided any clarification regarding these reports there is still a possibility of this match taking place at the grandest stage.

2. Gunther

‘The Ring General’ Gunther recently defended the World Heavyweight title in a triple threat match against Damian Priest and Finn Balor at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Since losing his clash for the inaugural Crown Jewel title against Cody Rhodes, Gunther has bounced back dominantly.

The Ring General proved every hater and naysayers wrong when he successfully defended his title against Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames and followed it by another defense at SNME. On the other hand, Cena is just one title win away from breaking through and becoming the 17-time WWE champion.

A match between the two would not only do massive numbers but would also be one the best matches the greatest of all time can have at the grandest stage. The match would also help elevate Gunther as a champion and a pro wrestler.

1. Cody Rhodes

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes is currently involved in a feud against Kevin Owens and the two are scheduled to lock horns in a ladder match at the 2025 Royal Rumble. Recent reports have somewhat revealed WWE’s plans for Cody at the grandest stage.

As per reports, the promotion is planning a title clash between Cena and Rhodes for April at the Allegiant Stadium. This match has the potential to become one of the best matches of the year and if Cena can win he will surpass Ric Flair and become the 17-time WWE Champion.

WWE could also place Cena in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, especially with Rhodes defending his title. Cena could earn a WrestleMania shot by winning the Rumble leading to a face-off between the two at Royal Rumble PLE.

Who in your opinion should be the opponent for Cena at WrestleMania? Do you want Cena to break the tie with Ric Flair and become the 17-time champion? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section.
