Charlotte Flair is our 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble winner

Charlotte Flair returned to WWE after a few weeks of vignettes, winning the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. The Queen has been out of action since December 2023 due to a knee injury.

Some fans will always cheer for specific athletes or teams. A percentage of fans, known as frontrunners, always root for the champions. No woman has won more WWE championships than Flair.

The decisions to win major matches will always divide sections of the fan base. With Charlotte Flair winning another Royal Rumble and a championship chance, a segment of fans may have rejected her success for the following five reasons.

5. Maybe fans wanted someone new to get the chance

WWE superstars may earn a major championship chance at The Show of Shows by winning either the Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber. Winning the 30-person match is even more thrilling because it has been one of the company’s ‘Big Four’ premium live events for decades.

With 30 contestants, much more may happen than in a contest with only six artists. Some members of the crowd believe that winning a Chamber match is less significant than winning a Royal Rumble.

Someone like IYO SKY may have significantly boosted her rank by entering the list of Rumble winners. Instead, Flair became the first women to win twice.

4. The unusual homecoming promo on RAW

Flair’s devastation is understandable given that it was her first significant injury. The bizarre thing was that she said it “broke her” mentally. That would have been an excellent place to explore some character development.

She constantly plays The Queen, a figure that is overconfident, loud, and unrepentant. If they had pursued that angle in her comeback promo after winning the Royal Rumble, she could have received more compassion.

That option was eliminated when she stated that the fans did not realize what it caused to her. Whether or whether it is correct, telling someone they don’t comprehend anything quickly turns them off.

3. Maybe winning it after getting in the Royal Rumble late

WWE struggles to develop compassion for the match victors year after year. Bayley and Rhea Ripley won because they entered the Royal Rumble in the top three positions.

Both ladies established new marks for time spent in the contest. The longer they stayed in it, the more supporters cheered for their successes. Even SKY, Roxanne Perez, and Liv Morgan would have been more sympathetic victors than many earlier competitors.

As is customary with WWE, they like to bring up “the numbers” around the bout, such as the 27th spot. Flair entered 27th and won the bout, joining a handful of notable victors who started in that position.

Fans would have been more supportive if she had entered well before the 20s and lasted longer than a quarter of the contest. It’s like entering the Chamber match last and expecting people to bet heavily on that person winning as Belair did in 2022.

2. Fans are tired of watching Charlotte Flair in the title scene

Charlotte Flair has spent most of her WWE career as either a champion or a challenger. She hasn’t had many untitled roles, which limits her ability to develop as a character and actor.

Many stars, like Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Alexa Bliss, Drew McIntyre, and others, have developed their personas through non-title storylines. It gives depth to their performances rather than repeating the same thing year after year.

Flair’s Queen image is simply an extension of being better than everyone or the greatest. It would be simpler to stomach her behavior if she wasn’t constantly shoved into title programs, such as at WrestleMania 35, and instead worked outside of the championship chase.

1. Immediately getting in the title scene would have made lots of fans mad

It might be claimed that WWE should include The Queen in a major bout at WrestleMania 41. That’s understandable given that she was out of action for more than a year due to injuries.

Some fans may be dissatisfied with her victory because she did not have to put in much effort (in the Royal Rumble Match).

When she loses a title, she usually takes time off. When she does return, she frequently challenges the incumbent champion right away.

She did this at the end of 2022 when Ronda Rousey “beat” Sonya Deville, and again in 2023 when Asuka defeated Bianca Belair. Returning and winning the Royal Rumble was business as usual.
