The Cenation Leader kicked off his retirement tour at the Intuit Dome

‘The Cenation Leader’ John Cena made his return on January 6 at the Intuit Dome on the historic debut episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. The 16-time WWE World Champion kicked off his retirement tour on the debut show.

Cena will wrestle full-time this year and will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of the year. During his appearance last week, the Cenation Leader announced that he will partake in the 2025 Royal Rumble. This announcement has generated a lot of hype among fans leading to speculations.

Ahead of the first PLE of 2025, let us take a look at the top three reasons the Cenation Leader will win the 2025 men’s Rumble match.

3. Gain momentum for his farewell tour

As mentioned above, the Cenation Leader will wrestle full-time this year and is hoping to partake in multiple PLEs. The Royal Rumble 2025 PLE will be his first appearance since April 2024 where he teamed up with Awesome Truth (R-Truth & The Miz) to defeat The Judgment Day (Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor & JD McDonagh).

The 16-time WWE World Champion would look to win the Rumble to gain momentum and prove to all the doubters that he has still the ability to compete at the highest level.

2. Tie ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin

The Cenation Leader has participated in eight Royal Rumble matches and has emerged victorious in two, once in 2008 and the other in 2013. The last time he participated in the men’s Rumble match was in 2018 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

Cena is currently tied with Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Triple H, Randy Orton, Edge, Brock Lesnar, and Cody Rhodes all of whom have two wins. However, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin remains the record holder with three Rumble wins, achieved in 1997, 1998, and 2001.

The Cenation Leader winning the 2025 Rumble would not only grant him a title shot at WrestleMania but he will also tie Stone Cold with most Rumble wins at three.

1. Create history and become the 17-time WWE World Champion

Cena is currently tied with Ric Flair for most WWE World title reigns at 16, many fans are hoping the Cenation Leader to break the tie and create history by becoming the 17-time WWE World Champion. As of now, both legends are tied for the most title wins in WWE.

The 16-time WWE Champion winning the Rumble in February would grant him a chance to fight for the World title and headline his last WrestleMania. Headlining Mania would be a huge treat for fans and for Cena himself to say goodbye to the grandest stage in style.
