Bron Breakker vs Sami Zayn for the IC title announced for SummerSlam 2024
On the July 22, 2024, episode of Raw, Bron Breakker fought Ilja Dragunov to find out who would be Sami Zayn’s opponent at WWE SummerSlam 2024 for the Intercontinental Championship. Bron won the match by referee stoppage, as Dragunov was unable to compete after Breakker speared Dragunov outside the ring, where Dragunov bumped his head on the hard part of the apron.
With this win, Bron Breakker became the rightful challenger for Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2024. This is a championship rematch for Breakker after his failed attempt at Money in the Bank PLE, however this could be his time to rewrite things.
Here we take a look at some of the possible reasons why Bron Breakker should win the IC title from Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam 2024.
3. Breakker’s loss could spoil his momentum
Many young and new talents have been shining in the main roster and have become champions and championship contenders in recent times. One such incredible talent is Bron Breakker.
The genetic freak has been on the rise since his debut and has been wrecking almost everyone who steps in his way. Although one of the powerful stars, Sami Zayn proved that he is defeatable at the MITB PLE.
However, if Bron Breakker suffered another loss against Sami, it could be a downgrade for Breakker, which could spoil his momentum. To avoid Bron’s momentum going in vain, WWE must book Breakker to win the IC title at SummerSlam.
2. Competitive mid-card
Sami Zayn throughout this IC title reign has only defended the title against very few opponents namely Chad Gable, Bronson Reed and a few others. However, Bron Breakker winning the IC title could make the mid-card in the Raw brand more competitive, as he already has issues with several talents in the ring and backstage.
Breaker has a character, where he can compete with both babyfaces and heel wrestlers and could deliver a tough fight. As most of the mid-card wrestlers are inactive, Breaker could make the roster interesting similar to how Gunther elevated it in the last two years.
1. To make him the next big thing
Bron Breakker is considered the next big thing since he made his main roster debut earlier this year. He has been squashing his opponents and already being the talk of the town. He’s got the speed, power, technique and charisma that a champion deserves, however, the only thing he doesn’t have is the championship in the main roster.
Breakker winning the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam could be the first major win for Bron in one of the biggest stages. Defeating a world champion worthy champion at the biggest stage could automatically elevate his career in the main roster and could set the steps for becoming the future world champion in the company.
