WWE has set no runtime for John Cena’s final match.
What started at the Raw Netflix debut in January is now coming to its final stop this Saturday as the 17-time WWE World Champion and widely regarded as the G.O.A.T. of pro wrestling, John Cena is all set to ride into the sunset this Saturday and hang up his wrestling boots for good as WWE rolls into the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., for Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The show will also feature NXT talents battling stars from the main roster. Cody Rhodes is set to face Oba Femi following NXT Deadline, and Bayley is slated to battle Sol Ruca.
Plus, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee collide with Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater, making this one of the most highly anticipated cards of the year.
John Cena vs Gunther will kick off the show in Washington
Ahead of the highly anticipated show, Bryan Alvarez from F4WOnline.com has reported that John Cena vs Gunther is scheduled to open the show.
He noted that Cena will be given all the time he needs for his performance, and that this edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event doesn’t have a fixed runtime, meaning the talent can take as much time as necessary throughout the show.
Since its revival last year, previous Saturday Night’s Main Event shows had to stick to strict time limits because they aired on NBC. However, this weekend’s Premium Live Event will stream exclusively on Peacock, so WWE won’t have to worry about any hard cut-off times.
Goldberg’s retirement speech was infamously cut short due to strict time limits, leaving many fans angry and speculating if the same can happen during Cena’s retirement.
