Roman Reigns’ in-ring return is made official for Bad Blood 2024
Roman Reigns made his long-awaited return on the September 13, 2024 episode of SmackDown, which is the season premiere of the blue brand marking the return to the USA Network. It was the first appearance of Roman since he was taken out by The Bloodline in August 2024.
Roman not only made his return but also confirmed his first match after returning, teaming up with his biggest rival to take on The Bloodline at the upcoming PLE. Here is everything that happened on the show, on how the match got confirmed.
Cody Rhodes retains & Roman Reigns return
On the September 13, 2024, episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes defended his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Solo Sikoa in a steel cage match in the opening segment of the show. Rhodes was free from the Bloodline during the match, which helped him secure the win and retain the title.
After the match, the Bloodline invaded the steel cage and started attacking the champion. Solo Sikoa performed a Samoan Spike on Cody & Tonga Loa slams him. Jacob Fatu performed a Splash. Solo asked Jacob to climb the top of the cage to jump on Cody, but Roman Reigns’ entrance music stopped him.
Roman Reigns entered the cage and joined the brawl, but the numbers game took him down until Cody Rhodes made the save by delivering a Cross Rhodes to Tama Tonga and Roman Reigns spearing Tonga Loa. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu escaped the ring with the Ula Fala and Roman and Cody stood tall inside the ring.
Solo Sikoa wants Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes
Moments later, the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis appeared in the backstage interview, where he revealed that Solo Sikoa looks to team up with Jacob Fatu and face Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at Bad Blood 2024.
Cody interrupted him and instantly regretted it saying that he is done with Bloodline and it’s Roman’s problem now and doesn’t want to interfere in it.
Roman Reigns & Cody Rhodes signed the contract
In the main event of the show, Roman made his appearance in the middle of the ring with Nick Aldis and said that he doesn’t need Aldis, a contract or Cody Rhodes, as this is family business and he can handle it his way. Roman then claimed that he was the only tribal chief, this was his show and his company.
Hearing that Cody confronted him and said that it used to be Roman’s show and company, but not anymore since WrestleMania. Both have a stare down until Solo Sikoa with Jacob Fatu interrupts them.
As Cody and Roman were focused on Solo and Fatu, The Tongans attacked Roman and Cody from behind. Both Cody and Roman took the Tongans out and signed the contract to make Cody Rhodes & Roman Reigns vs Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu official for the 2024 Bad Blood PLE.
