Roman Reigns has not appeared on WWE TV in 2026!

A new report from Slice Wrestling has sent shockwaves through the WWE fanbase, outlining an alleged creative power struggle involving Roman Reigns and Triple H as the road to WrestleMania 42 takes shape. While the report remains unconfirmed, it provides detailed insight into how WWE’s long-term plans may have shifted dramatically behind the scenes.

According to Slice Wrestling, WWE had initially aligned on a blockbuster third WrestleMania match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. It teased for a babyface Roman versus heel Cody match for which seeds were reportedly planted as early as Survivor Series: WarGames, with Endeavor/TKO supportive of the direction.

Inside the reported creative disagreement

The report claims that while Triple H agreed the Roman–Cody trilogy would be a strong WrestleMania 42 program. But, he ultimately pushed back against key elements of the plan. Notably, Triple H reportedly does not want to place Roman Reigns back into the Undisputed WWE Championship picture so soon.

Additionally, the WWE Chief Content Officer is said to be opposed to having Roman pin Cody clean, believing it would create the perception that Roman is definitively superior. Triple H also allegedly does not want to turn Cody Rhodes heel, viewing him as the company’s top babyface and doubting whether a heel turn would benefit his long-term value.

These philosophical differences reportedly led Triple H to begin developing alternate plans for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which Slice Wrestling states directly influenced Drew McIntyre winning the title in what was described as a late creative change.

They further reported that after WWE SummerSlam 2025, Roman Reigns increased communication with The Rock, Nick Khan, and Ari Emanuel regarding his role and creative direction.

By October 2025, Roman Reigns allegedly informed Endeavor/TKO/WWE that he wanted Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 42. Roman reportedly felt that his evolution into a massively supported babyface made a heel Cody the ideal foil for a WrestleMania main event.

The report adds that Roman personally wanted to defeat Cody clean for the Undisputed WWE Championship as a form of closure to their rivalry, viewing it as a defining accomplishment in his career.

Unsurprisingly, the report has sparked heated debate online. Some fans have voiced strong support for Roman Reigns, arguing that his vision reflects his status as WWE’s most influential star of the modern era.

Others have rallied behind Cody Rhodes, agreeing with Triple H’s alleged reluctance to turn him heel or sacrifice his momentum.

At the same time, a significant portion of the fanbase has dismissed the story outright, labeling it exaggerated or outright fake due to the lack of confirmation from WWE or major industry reporters.

The report emphasized that backstage politics remain complex, noting that Roman was expected to return to WWE television earlier but that these internal discussions may have delayed plans. The outlet also stated that Roman could still be involved in the World Heavyweight Championship picture, just not necessarily at WrestleMania 42.

It is important to note that this information should be treated strictly as rumor and backstage speculation. The report originates from Slice Wrestling and has not been confirmed by WWE, Endeavor/TKO, or any major industry reporters. While the claims outline detailed creative discussions, they remain unverified at this time, and WWE’s internal planning could change at any moment as WrestleMania 42 approaches.

Is the Roman Reigns–Triple H power struggle confirmed by WWE?

No. The information comes from Slice Wrestling and has not been officially confirmed by WWE or Endeavor/TKO.

Was Roman Reigns originally planned for a WrestleMania 42 title match?

According to the report, yes, but Triple H reportedly pivoted away from that direction.
