LA Knight returns; Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky win & other possible spoilers for WWE RAW (January 5, 2026)

WWE kicked off 2026 with the return of SmackDown to a three-hour format, and the promotion is now set to deliver the first episode of the Red Brand of the year. To continue the New Year momentum, WWE will present a special Stranger Things–themed edition of Raw.

The first Monday Night Raw of 2026 is set to emanate live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The show will also mark the one-year anniversary of the Red Brand on Netflix, as its first episode premiered on January 6, 2025, ushering in a new era for WWE.

Three title showdowns, along with the in-ring return of Liv Morgan, have been announced for the show. Let us now take a look at the top four spoilers for this week’s show of WWE Raw.

4. Liv Morgan suffers defeat

Amid tensions and a rift with Raquel Rodriguez, Liv Morgan is set to make her in-ring return on WWE Programming for the first time since her injury in June. Morgan will battle Lyra Valkyria in a singles match.

With reports of a massive push for Liv ahead of WrestleMania, WWE might start to unravel the rift between Liv and Raquel Rodriguez. Although the storyline has been moving at a slow pace, the massive stage this Monday could see the storyline pick up steam, with Raquel likely costing Liv her return match, leading to further escalation between the two.

3. NXT call-ups

The first episode of Friday Night SmackDown in 2026, delivered amid massive expectations from fans, featured multiple returns and high-profile matches. The show also featured the much-awaited NXT call-ups with Trick Williams and Jordynne Grace, making appearances.

WWE could continue this trend this Monday, with the first Raw of 2026. Je’Von Evans has been making appearances and contemplating signing with the Red brand, which could come to fruition. Additionally, the Red brand can also benefit from tag teams, who could challenge the new Champions, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso), and help in the revival of the division on the Red brand.

2. Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky win

The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) are set to put the Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line against the duo of Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. Momentum appears to favor the challengers after Sky pinned Sane in an eight-woman tag team match that also featured Asuka and Ripley on last week’s SmackDown.

Ripley and Sky are likely going to win the match to become the new Tag Team Champions, as WWE traditionally delivers massive title wins and moments on the first show of the year. With no probable returns expected for the show, fans can expect a win for the massively popular team of Ripley and Iyo.

A title change could open the door to several potential paths for the promotion in the build toward WrestleMania.

1. LA Knight returns

LA Knight was viciously attacked by The Vision (Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed & Logan Paul) during the final moments of the December 8 episode of Raw. He was subsequently written off TV and has been absent from programming since.

Reports have revealed that the former US Champion could be back as early as the January 5 episode of Monday Night Raw. From a storytelling standpoint, a return during the World Heavyweight Title match between CM Punk and Bron Breakker would allow him to reignite his rivalry with The Vision while stretching Breakker’s championship chase until WrestleMania.
