Who can replace Andrade following his departure?
Andrade’s sudden WWE exit has left fans stunned and the SmackDown roster with a noticeable gap. In recent weeks, the former United States Champion had begun gaining momentum in the tag team division, forming an exciting partnership with Rey Fenix.
The duo was reportedly set to challenge the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Championships at Clash in Paris, but plans were derailed. Instead, The Street Profits stepped into the title picture, leaving Andrade’s departure as one of the biggest shocks of the year.
With his exit, WWE creative now faces the task of reshuffling its deck. Here are three possible stars who could replace Andrade on the blue brand and join Fenix to continue the momentum towards the tag titles.
3. Dragon Lee

Dragon Lee has been delivering consistently strong performances on RAW, but hasn’t found a solid direction. Aligning with AJ Styles gave him a short-term spotlight, but Andrade’s departure creates a bigger opportunity.
The former NXT North American Champion has all the tools to shine on SmackDown. His fast-paced lucha style makes him a natural fit to replace Andrade as Rey Fenix’s ally. Together, the two could reinvigorate the tag division or carve out strong singles runs.
Moving Lee to the blue brand would also refresh his character and give him a clear path toward greater exposure, something he has struggled to achieve on RAW.
2. Santos Escobar
Santos Escobar has been part of WWE for years, but his main roster run hasn’t lived up to expectations. Despite being the leader of Legado Del Fantasma, he often finds himself lost in the shuffle on SmackDown.
However, Andrade’s absence creates an opening for Escobar to establish himself as a major player. His experience, charisma, and in-ring skills could allow him to step into the role Andrade was beginning to carve out.
Pairing him with Rey Fenix or even pushing him as a solo competitor could reignite Escobar’s WWE journey. This might be the right moment for him to finally break through.
1. Penta

The most obvious replacement is Penta, who currently wrestles on RAW. Alongside Rey Fenix, he forms the iconic Lucha Brothers, one of the most decorated tag teams in modern wrestling.
With Andrade gone, the timing is perfect to reunite the brothers on SmackDown. Their chemistry is unmatched, and bringing them together could instantly restore the excitement Fenix has been building.
While both men have strong singles potential, their best success has always been as a team. A Lucha Brothers reunion could fill the void left by Andrade while elevating the tag team division as a whole.
Why did Andrade leave WWE?
Details surrounding Andrade’s exit remain unclear, but reports suggest creative differences and long-term planning may have played a role.
Will Rey Fenix stay in the tag division without Andrade?
WWE seems committed to keeping Fenix active in the tag division, which is why finding him a new partner is so important.
Could Andrade return to WWE in the future?
Nothing is ever off the table in wrestling. While he has parted ways with the company for now, Andrade could always make a comeback down the road.
