2025 could be the year for some historic World title reigns to commence in WWE

WWE has begun the new year with exciting changes, such as SmackDown moving to a three-hour format show and Monday Night RAW streaming on Netflix. A landscape would tend to bring new opportunities for the WWE superstars on both shows, with one accolade being in sight for all, which is winning a World Championship.

Last year, there was the rise of multiple WWE superstars who could win the big one, while some events in 2025 need to crown certain superstars as World Champions for the audience. Here is a look at seven WWE superstars who must become World Champions in WWE in 2025.

7. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has risen to be one of the most popular and captivating WWE superstars in the modern era. He has won multiple championships and accolades and has also main evented WrestleMania.

With all the momentum he has had in 2024, including ending Gunther‘s dominant IC title reign, the new year should be the year where Sami Zayn gets his due and wins his first World Championship in WWE.

6. Solo Sikoa

Solo Sikoa broke out of Roman Reigns‘ shadow in 2024, taking the moniker of The Tribal Chief and forming his own version of a more destructive Bloodline.

He emerged as a top singles star, was featured in high-profile feuds and became a cornerstone for WWE. To ascend to the next level and keep his momentum going, Solo Sikoa should win his first World Championship in 2025 to become a legitimate top star.

5. Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill was signed to WWE back in 2023, and she made her thunderous debut at the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble event.

Since then, Cargill has emerged as a top prospect for the company and has already become a two-time WWE Women’s tag team champion in 2024. With a new year upon us, this could be the year of Cargill’s rise as a singles competitor, who could be solidified with a World title victory.

4. Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker has been called the fastest-rising star in WWE in 2024. The Wolf Dog has captivated the audience with his dominance inside the ring that fetched him two WWE Intercontinental titles last year.

With Breakker having all the tools to become a top name, he could do so by winning his first WWE World Championship in 2025, which could make him ‘The Next Big Thing.’

3. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre began the year 2024 with a huge World title win at WrestleMania XL, only to be taken away from him in mere minutes. He spent the majority of the year in a high-profile feud with CM Punk while also chasing the World title.

To retain his presence as a top attraction, McIntyre needs a proper World title run in 2025, much like he did back in 2020 during the pandemic era.

2. Jey Uso

The year 2024 belonged to one Jey Uso, who rose remarkably as a singles star. From his captivating YEET movement, leading the merchandise sales and winning his first singles title in WWE after 14 years, Jey’s career saw heights he had never seen.

With Uso already proclaiming that he would win a World Championship in 2025 on his social media, WWE needs to pull the trigger and crown Jey the World Champion this year to cement his status as a main event player.

1. John Cena

John Cena will embark on his highly anticipated retirement tour for the rest of 2025, which will see him compete for the final time as an in-ring competitor.

Fans have expressed their opinion of wanting to see Cena win his 17th World title and break Ric Flair’s record. The dream of millions could finally come true during the last leg of Cena’s career when he became ‘The Champ’ one last time before hanging up his boots.
