The Royal Rumble match has proven to be a game-changer for many WWE superstars over the years.
WWE is already planning its first Premium Live Event of 2025, the WWE Royal Rumble, which will take place on February 1 at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana, Indianapolis. The event will set the stage for the road to WrestleMania 41 with the traditional 30-person Royal Rumble match for both Menâs and Womenâs sides.
In regards to the menâs division, WWE has often booked rising stars to win the Rumble matches to ascend to the next level. However, there have been times when established stars who did not need that win were the Rumble winners. Here is a look at five WWE superstars who should not win the 2025 Menâs Royal Rumble match:
5. Solo Sikoa
Solo Sikoa broke out as a top singles star in the year 2024. Leading the charge of the new Bloodline, Sikoa is well on his way to becoming a major player in WWE.
While the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble seems a great opportunity for his ascend, this would ultimately disappoint the fans who see Solo Sikoa as a major heel.
Moreover, he has yet to become a marquee name in the business, and booking him to win the Rumble this year doesnât seem like the right decision at the moment.
4. LA Knight
LA Knightâs meteoric rise began around mid-year in 2023, leading to multiple opportunities and TV time. While he capitalized on them by becoming the WWE United States Champion in 2024, his popularity is nowhere close to where it was in 2023.
So, WWE giving the win to LA Knight at this time, especially since he just lost the US title to Shinsuke Nakamura, would not be an ideal choice.
3. Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is one of the most accomplished and true workhorses of WWE today. The Drip Godâs work ethic and popularity are on top at the moment.
Looking at his illustrious resume, accolades that already include a Rumble win in 2019 and star power, Seth Rollins does not need a Royal Rumble match win to find his place on the road to WrestleMania 41.
2. John Cena
John Cena is set to compete at his last Royal Rumble event in 2025 as part of his highly anticipated retirement tour.
While the fan sentiment calls for John Cena to win the Rumble match, a long-term booking should rather be a young and upcoming star, lastly eliminating a 16-time WWE Champion Cena from the Rumble to win the match and gain maximum momentum from it.
1. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns is, arguably one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. Despite no longer being the champion, Reignsâ fame and star power puts him âLevels Aboveâ everyone on the WWE roster.
With a highly untouchable and accomplished career that also includes a Rumble win from 2015, a Royal Rumble win at this point in his career would not make much difference, so it would be better to book someone else than Roman Reigns.
