Stone Cold was anticipated to appear on the 3:16 edition of Raw!
‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was highly anticipated to make an appearance on the 3:16 show of WWE Raw. March 16 every year is celebrated by fans and WWE as Stone Cold Day. The phrase comes from Austin’s iconic “Austin 3:16” promo after he defeated Jake Roberts at the King of the Ring 1996 tournament.
However, Austin didn’t appear on the show in San Antonio. In fact, he has been absent from WWE Television since WrestleMania 41 in April 2025, where he arrived on an ATV to announce the attendance.
Similar to every year, ahead of WrestleMania 42, rumors and speculations about his potential appearance on the show are once again being talked about, and in a recent appearance on the Busted Open Radio, the Texas Rattlesnake addressed these speculations.
Stone Cold teases possible WrestleMania appearance
During his appearance on the Busted Open Radio on 3:16 Day, Stone Cold responded to rumors about a potential return at the upcoming April event in Las Vegas in April.
While noting that WWE’s roster is capable enough to handle the show, Austin added that he’d be open to doing something if possible.
“It’s funny because you’ll sit there or they’ll put something on Instagram and people will say, ‘Oh no, man, he’s too old, let the current talent have the spotlight,’
Let the current talent have the spotlight, of course. If I can go out there and do something, that’d be fine. They got a pretty good roster, you know? So I think those guys and gals, they need all the time.”
As noted, Austin’s most recent appearance came during the 41st edition of WrestleMania last year. During his entrance last year, he came in on an ATV to the ring. However, Austin lost control of the vehicle and collided with the ringside barricade, inadvertently knocking over a fan.
During the appearance, he also discussed the infamous incident, stating he messed up big time and was so angry about it.
“God damn, when I crashed that four-wheeler last year up there against that wall, man, you talk about stting the bed big time, I was so pissed off about that.
Because I was looking forward to going out there and announcing the attendance and then watching the show, seeing what kind of show the superstars were going to put on. And, man, I st the bed on the big stage.”

Despite the mishap, Stone Cold also added that it would be cool if WWE welcomes him back, “We’ll see if they have me back, If they do, that’s cool.”
Austin also made it clear that if he returned, it would just be an appearance, not an in-ring return. He is also confirmed to be in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week, where he’s scheduled to appear at the WWE World Fan Convention as a guest.
Austin will be available for photo and autograph sessions on April 18–19, 2026, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Stone Cold’s last in-ring appearance came during WrestleMania 38 in 2022, where he defeated Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match.
When and where will WrestleMania 42 take place?
The 42nd edition of WrestleMania will take place as a two-night event on April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.
