Stone Cold Steve Austin crashed his ATV into the barricade
WrestleMania 41 featured several memorable events, but one of the most unexpected occurred on the ramp, when WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin lost control of his ATV during his entrance.
Austin, famed for his spectacular four-wheeler entrances, slammed into the barricade and knocked over a fan, causing the moment to go viral.
The incident took place at Allegiant Stadium during Austin’s second lap around the ring. While the WWE veteran swiftly checked on the fan before continuing with his segment, backstage authorities were noticeably concerned.
WWE President Nick Khan was spotted approaching the fan to make sure everything was well, as the incident had frightened both the audience and business employees.
Now, Steve Austin has addressed the disaster in an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, offering insight on what went wrong at the high-profile event. According to Austin, the problem was not caused by irresponsible driving, but by the vehicle’s unusual throttle system.
Austin said, “Different throttle setup than what I’m used to. Long story short, just a different throttle system. I’m pretty dang handy on a four-wheeler.”
He also added, “You go out there on the biggest night in wrestling, and you end up like that… It’s not the greatest day at the office.”
What stuck out was how Austin handled the fallout. Following his in-ring promo, during which he cheekily questioned the official attendance count and raised his signature beer salute, Austin returned to personally check on the fan in issue. No legal action has been taken, and the situation appears to have been discreetly addressed.
Fans praised Austin online for not only openly discussing the matter, but also for his sportsmanship. The occurrence, while terrible, did not detract from his enduring popularity or legacy.
