This will be the last SmackDown to take place on FOX before moving to the USA Network.
WWE is coming yet another successful Premium Live Event, Bash in Berlin, that enthralled the WWE Universe in Germany with a major event in a long time. The promotion now looks towards its final SmackDown this Friday on the FOX network before transitioning to the USA network.
With major teases and hints dropped for what can be expected on the blue brand moving forward, here are the top five storylines to watch out for this week on WWE SmackDown:
5. Kevin Owens’s next stop
Kevin Owens put up a valiant effort to dethrone Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title at the WWE Bash in Berlin but was unsuccessful in his bidding. There were multiple spots where Owens teased a heel turn during the match but did not pull the trigger. With a major loss suffered, Owens could finally embrace his dark side and once again lay claim to another shot at the World Championship, but with a different master plan this time.
4. LA Knight’s next opponent
LA Knight has been defending his WWE United States title successfully for two straight weeks against Santos Escobar and Ludwig Kaiser in his Open Challenge. The Megastar could continue his path of becoming a fighting champion by hosting another Open Challenge this week on SmackDown as part of the monster push for LA Knight to major stardom.
3. Bayley is back
Bayley returned to WWE television programming last week on SmackDown since losing her WWE Women’s Championship to Nia Jax at SummerSlam. She went straight after Miss Money in the Bank, Tiffany Stratton, who cost her the title with a possible encounter happening between the duo en route to earning her rematch against Nia Jax for the title.
2. Giovanni Vinci’s debut
Giovanni Vinci’s debut under a new persona has been teased on Friday Night SmackDown for weeks. Last week, it was announced that Vinci would return to SmackDown in the upcoming edition. This could see him compete in a match while declaring his intentions for his tenure on Friday Nights in the coming weeks.
1. Cody Rhodes encounters Solo Sikoa again
As announced on Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa are set to meet each other on the upcoming edition of SmackDown. This could lead to another Undisputed WWE title match between the duo on the premiere episode of SmackDown on the USA Network, where Roman Reigns could return to once again cost Solo the title and resume their rivalry on the road to WWE Bad Blood PLE.
