Storylines intensify as WWE prepares for the transition on Netflix

The 12/30 episode of Monday Night Raw is the final show of the year for the Red Brand. Reports suggest that it could also be the last two-hour episode, as the show will follow SmackDown’s lead and transition to a three-hour format next month.

The final episode on USA Network airs on 12/30 for the last time, as the Red Brand moves to Netflix next month. This week’s episode of the Red brand will be broadcast live from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Let us now take a look at the top five WWE storylines you should watch out for this Monday night’s show.

5. Build-up to the Netflix debut

As the Stamford-based promotion prepares for its transition to streaming giant Netflix, this week’s show will be used for announcements, build-ups, and escalating feuds that will culminate at the debut show.

A lot of changes are on the horizon as the promotion makes its permanent move from broadcast television to streaming. This episode will also feature announcements for upcoming matches and offer a sneak peek of the show at the Intuit Dome.

4. Damian Priest vs Finn Balor

The feud between Damian Priest and Finn Balor began when Balor betrayed Priest during his Heavyweight title defense against Gunther against SummerSlam 2024. Balor then kicked out Priest from the Judgment Day faction.

However, the feud slowly fizzled out as Priest restarted his journey towards the title and Balor was seen occasionally on the show. The feud was reignited when Balor once again interfered during Priest’s match with Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Survivor Series 2024 PLE.

The two stars are not deeply involved in a feud that escalated when Priest helped War Raiders in their match against Judgment Day (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh) where the WWE Tag Titles were on the line. Priest has now joined forces with War Raiders as they evaded an attack from Judgment Day last week.

3. WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Tournament

This week’s episode features two clashes in the semi-finals of the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title Tournament. Iyo Sky after replacing her injured tag partner Kairi Sane grabbed the semi-final spot and will now face Lyra Valkyria on the 12/30 show.

On the other hand, Dakota Kai will lock horns with Zoey Stark in the highly anticipated semifinals of the IC title tournament. The winner from both matches will advance to the finals of the tournament and be one step closer to becoming the inaugural champion. The finals of the tournament might be set for the debut episode.

2. Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan is involved in a fierce feud with Rhea Ripley which will culminate at the Red brand’s premier show on Netflix on January 6. The two rivals will collide in a last-woman-standing match.

The promotion will use this week’s episode to build up the match and increase anticipation among fans. The title match between the two is the only title match announced for the debut show at the time of writing this article.

1. CM Punk & Seth Rollins meeting under the roof

The debut episode at the Intuit Dome next week will also feature a grudge match between two rivals who harbor a deep hatred for each other. Unlike many other rivalries, the two stars never shy away from airing their brutal opinions about each other in public.

CM Punk and Seth Rollins will not settle their difference inside the squared ring on January 6. Punk and Rollins are set to share the spotlight at this week’s episode under the same roof. The promotion would use the 12/30 episode to build excitement among fans for the clash.
