SummerSlam is one of the biggest PLE for the company set to take place in Ohio this year.

WWE has been continuing the roaring success of its PLEs since the dawning of the Triple H era at WrestleMania 40 with WWE Backlash and most recently, WWE King and Queen of the Ring in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Despite being months away, the promotion is already looking forward to its biggest event in the summer, WWE SummerSlam 2024.

The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. With WWE already planting the seeds for multiple rivalries, here are the top five storylines WWE should book for SummerSlam this year:

5. Damian Priest vs Finn Balor

Ever since Damian Priest captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40, he has been perceived as the unquestioned leader of his faction, Judgment Day.

This had caused evident rifts between him and his stable, most notably Finn Balor. With tensions running high for weeks, WWE can continue to build on this storyline and book a stellar bout between both members of The Judgment Day.

4. Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan

Rhea Ripley‘s world came crashing down when she was attacked by Liv Morgan on the RAW after WrestleMania 40. This led to Ripley relinquishing her WWE Women’s World Title due to a shoulder injury and further led to Morgan winning that championship from Becky Lynch in Saudi Arabia.

With WWE hopeful that Ripley could return from injury by SummerSlam, they can set the stage for this highly anticipated bout filled with animosity, high stakes, and thirst for revenge.

3. Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins

The era of Roman Reigns came to its conclusion when he lost his World Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40. However, arguably his greatest rival, Seth Rollins played a pivotal role in his demise when Reigns turned his focus on him instead of Rhodes.

Considering the recent development and their long storied rivalry, WWE could give another exciting edition of this feud with a Reigns vs Rollins match at WWE SummerSlam 2024.

2. Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton

The storied history of Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton dates back to the time The Viper took him under his wing in the late 2000s as part of his faction “Legacy.”

Moreover, Orton also came out for Rhodes’ WrestleMania title win celebrations and most recently, WWE teased a future showdown between the duo backstage on SmackDown that could very well be a blockbuster showdown for WWE SummerSlam 2024.

1. Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk

The rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre began at the 2024 Royal Rumble event when Drew injured Punk’s triceps and took him out of WrestleMania 40. Punk returned the favor by costing McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship at the same event.

Moreover, the feud has been triggered by their verbal back and forth on social media and live television programming. With Punk expected to recover from injury by WWE SummerSlam, the promotion could book CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre for The Biggest Party of the Summer this year.
