The upcoming edition of Friday Night SmackDown could have multiple surprises planned for the fans.

WWE SmackDown has been off to an excellent start on the USA Network following its premiere two weeks ago. Moreover, intriguing narratives and storylines have been captivating the WWE Universe in major fashion, keeping them hooked on television programming.

With WWE Bad Blood PLE coming up in less than two weeks, here are the top five surprises we can see on the upcoming September 27 edition of SmackDown:

5. Carmelo Hayes gets first major opportunity

Carmelo Hayes mocked his rival, Andrade El Idolo, for failing to dethrone LA Knight for the United States Championship last week. With the duo set to collide for the sixth time this week, Hayes could topple Andrade, leading to ‘HIM’ getting his first title opportunity against LA Knight, possibly the SmackDown before Bad Blood.

4. Naomi triumphs over Bayley

This week on SmackDown, allies Naomi and Bayley are set to collide in a No.1 contender match for Nia Jax’s WWE Women’s Championship at Bad Blood following their double pinfall controversy. While many fans are expecting Bayley to win and get her rematch for the title, WWE could surprise the audience by booking Naomi to win the match, which could be the start of the push for her in the weeks leading to Bad Blood.

3. Bloodline match added for Bad Blood

While Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu are scheduled to face Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at WWE Bad Blood, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis could shock the Bloodline and the audience. He would inform the other members, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, that they would defend their titles at Bad Blood against surprise opponents, which could pave the way for the return of the OG Bloodline members.

2. Kevin Owens Heel turn

For weeks, WWE has been dropping hints of a massive heel turn planned for Kevin Owens. Last week on SmackDown, Owens was inches away from knocking down Cody Rhodes, who saved him from The Bloodline, only to pull back at the end. This week, KO could finally embrace his dark side once again and begin a new run as a heel that could elevate him to main event status again.

1. Paul Heyman returns

With Roman Reigns back in the mix, many have speculated about the return of his Wiseman, Paul Heyman, who was taken out by The Bloodline months ago. Heyman could make his shocking appearance on SmackDown this week to inform Reigns and Cody Rhodes that at Bad Blood, he is ready with a plan should Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline try to pit them against the numbers game.
