The Rock made his WWE return at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE
The Rock recently made his appearance at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE, appearing in the final moments of the show interfering with the Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes celebration. Following the Rock’s return, there has been a huge rumor and speculation about the potential Rock vs Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes match at WrestleMania 41.
However, the backstage report suggests that Rock may not be working for WrestleMania. Here is a backstage update on Rock’s return and potential plan.
The Rock is not in WrestleMania 41 plans
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that he has heard from the sources within WWE that some person in the creative, who has old school mentalities didn’t like The Rock stealing the show without converting it into a match. It is reported that The Rock is not going to be at WrestleMania 41, and he had already reported it about the Rock vs Reigns vs Rhodes match.
Dave Meltzer said, “While nobody can say it publicly, some with old school mentalities didn’t like the idea that he stole the show and it‘s not building to a match. ‘He’s not going to be able to do Mania. He already gave word that he wouldn’t be able to do that match’ when asked about Rock vs. Reigns vs. Rhodes.
The reports reveal that there is no specific reason behind Rock’s return and everyone was given a different reason. It is said that Rock’s schedule got too heavy and he is not doing it right.
Meltzer said,
“Rock came out with the People’s belt that the widow of Muhammad Ali gave him at the Hall of Fame. There was no specific reason given past we were told that different reasons were given to different people. What we do know is that Dwayne Johnson when it comes to this is either going to be all in, meaning a full training camp to get into the best wrestling and cosmetic shape he can get in, or not in. ‘The story is simply his schedule got too heavy, he couldn’t commit to doing it right.’”
Meltzer then asked who could potentially be in the top card for WrestleMania 41, for which the source has no idea of Rock’s creative plan, as it is largely kept secret.

The Rock recently posted the video of him arriving backstage, before appearing on WWE TV at Bad Blood on X/Twitter.
There are also rumors that WWE planning a Bloodline Civil War for Survivor Series 2024. It would be interesting to see how WWE plans the match with just Roman Reigns & Jimmy Uso, while they have the whole Bloodline to look after. It would be interesting to see whether WWE tries to bring back Sami Zayn & Jey Uso to SmackDown, but how they do it would be more interesting to see.
