Cody Rhodes made his impending return last week on WWE SNME, May 2025
WWE is heating up again and all eyes are on this week’s SmackDown as Cody Rhodes and John Cena will be under the same roof for the first time since WrestleMania 41.
Their rivalry has been personal and brutal ever since Cena turned heel and aligned himself with The Rock and Travis Scott.
After Rhodes returned with a bang at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Tampa last weekend, fans are expecting fireworks this Friday in Knoxville.
With their tag team match set for Money in the Bank, the road to California might just explode on SmackDown.
3. Logan Paul and Jey Uso shifting the momentum
With Logan Paul and Jey Uso involved in this growing feud, it wouldn’t be a shock if they make their presence known on SmackDown. Logan could try to blindside Jey or even ambush Cody Rhodes to soften him up before their tag match.
On the flip side, Jey might save Cody again and even the odds by superkicking John Cena or Paul. Either way, the tag match at Money in the Bank is going to be high-stakes and SmackDown could be the place where alliances strengthen or fall apart.

2. John Cena and Cody Rhodes trade blows ahead of their tag match
Let’s be honest, the tension is way too high for a simple face-to-face promo segment. Cody has been waiting to get his hands on John Cena since March and there’s no way this show ends without chaos. Expect a full-blown brawl.
Whether it’s backstage or in the ring, this segment might turn into an all-out fight that will require the locker room to separate the two. WWE could even end the show with Cena and Rhodes trading blows as the crowd erupts heading into Money in the Bank.
1. Cody Rhodes confronts Cena & demands his World Championship rematch
Ever since Cody lost the WWE Undisputed Championship to Cena at WrestleMania 41, there’s been a fire burning in ‘The American Nightmare’. He was attacked and humiliated on the grandest stage, and now that he’s back, there’s no way he’ll let Cena continue walking around like he owns the place.
Rhodes could march straight to the ring and challenge Cena to a rematch. Not just any match, but a match with real consequences. Title or not, Cody wants revenge and this upcoming Friday night could be the moment he lays down the challenge in front of the WWE Universe.
