Randy Orton is expected to be back on the 9/6 episode of SmackDown

Randy Orton in the fall out of SummerSlam, made his appearance on Monday Nights to challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. Orton worked on Raw throughout the road to Bash in Berlin building his rivalry with The Ring General for their match. At Bash in Berlin, Orton was so close to dethroning Gunther for the world title but passed out to submission hold, which made the Austrian retain.

If Orton had won the title, he would be moved to the red brand, however Orton lost and will get back to the SmackDown brand this week. Ahead of his return to Friday nights, here we take a look at the five things Randy Orton could do on WWE SmackDown.

5. Feud with A-Town Down Under

Austin Theory & Grayson Waller are not someone new when it comes to running their mouth on Randy Orton & Kevin Owens’ loss. Both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller could mock them for losing their matches at Bash in Berlin, which could result in a tag team match this week. This could put both of them in action and could motivate them to move forward after the loss.

4. Having the back of Cody Rhodes

As Cody Rhodes is set to address Solo Sikoa’s challenge, there is a high chance that The Bloodline could assault Cody Rhodes. As Randy Orton and Owens always had Cody’s back against the Bloodline, they could help Cody from Bloodline by taking each and everyone of them as a trio, which they already did in the past.

3. Chase the Tag Team titles with Kevin Owens

Randy Orton, before entering into a feud with Gunther on Raw, was having a tag team alliance with Kevin Owens.. As both lost their world title match at Bash in Berlin, they could still chase the gold, by teaming up with each other.

Randy Orton could team up with Kevin Owens and restart the rivalry with The Bloodline to chase the tag team championship feuding with Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa in the upcoming events. Orton has a lot of history with the Bloodline and tag team titles, as the title defense took Orton out of action for a long time. At this stage Orton teaming up with Owens and going after the tag titles could be a good move.

2. Turn heel against Cody Rhodes

Kevin Owens failed to attack injured Cody Rhodes during the Undisputed WWE Championship match, which made him lose the match. At this stage, Randy Orton could turn heel on Cody and teach Owens a lesson, that showing mercy is illegal when it comes to the title. Both Orton and Owens did it a lot of times in the past and they could do it now for a title shot. This could spice up things in the SmackDown brand, as there are no big top-tier heel wrestlers in the blue brand other than The Bloodline.

1. Challenge Cody Rhodes for the title

Randy Orton could return to SmackDown this week to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Cody previously offered a title shot to Kevin Owens in due respect and he could do the same thing to Orton. This could give The Apex Predator another opportunity to become the 15-time world champion.

The potential match between the two was rumored to be held for a long time, and Orton having his looks on the title is teased a number of times. There is no better way to book the match between the mentor and his student than this.
