Randy Orton will be making an appearance on SmackDown after months of inactivity

The 2025 WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event was one of the most captivating and game-changing events in WWE history. The show was a sight of major shockers and top-tier in-ring action. However, another important part of the show was surprise returns, one being Randy Orton.

The Viper came back to WWE after months of being on the sidelines due to injuries suffered at the hands of Kevin Owens. With Orton set to return to Friday Night SmackDown this week after months, here are the four things that Randy Orton can do upon his resurgence on the blue brand.

4. Seeking revenge on Kevin Owens

Randy Orton was out of action on SmackDown after he was subjected to a massive beatdown and a concluding Piledriver by Kevin Owens. The attack that night saw The Viper being taken out of the arena on a stretcher, not to be seen for months.

Orton made his remarkable return at the 2025 Elimination Chamber and went straight after Owens for costing him months of his career. He could once again try to get his hands on KO on this week’s SmackDown and exact his revenge on Owens for the injuries he gave him.

3. Making a huge challenge for WrestleMania 41

The road to WrestleMania 41 is currently underway, and Randy Orton made his return on the last major stop of that road, WWE Elimination Chamber PLE. Looking to claim his spot and exact his revenge from Kevin Owens at the same time, Orton could throw out the challenge on SmackDown to the Prize Fighter for a match at The Show of Shows. The match could possibly be a no-rules stipulation, witnessing the aggression boiling in both Orton and Owens.

2. Announcing the shortening of his wrestling career

When Randy Orton came back to WWE in 2023 after 18 months of being on the shelf, he revealed that he is still in the prime of his career. Moreover, WWE’s Apex Predator also claimed that he could still go in the ring for ten more years.

However, after suffering major injuries at the hands of Kevin Owens, Orton could come to SmackDown this week to announce the shortening of his career and admit that maybe he doesn’t have the time he thought he had left as an in-ring competitor.

1. Align with his close friend Cody Rhodes

It is no secret that Randy Orton was a former mentor and now close friend of the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. Rhodes began his WWE career back in the late 2000s as a member of Orton’s Legacy faction.

Since Rhodes came back to WWE, Orton has been nothing but good with him. Seeing that he has tough foes like The Rock and John Cena in his way on the road to WrestleMania 41, Orton could offer his help to Cody on SmackDown in his battle against the two WWE megastars who joined forces and beat down Rhodes at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE.
