WWE and UFC officially merged in September 2023 to form TKO Group Holdings.

WWE was merged with UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), a massive MMA organisation, in September 2023 to form TKO Group Holdings, which was created by Endeavor. The merger has seen many stars from both promotions make regular appearances, and even the two brands promote each other’s shows.

Even before the merger, there have been stars who have crossed over from UFC to WWE or vice versa. However, a current UFC star has now confirmed that he is in talks with WWE CCO Triple H for a potential future in the promotion.

What Happened?

Former Bellator Lightweight Champion and current UFC Lightweight contender, Michael Chandler, in a recent conversation with The Schmo Show at Fanatics Fest in New York City, hinted at trading the octagon for the squared ring.

During his conversation, Chandler revealed that he is in talks with Triple H about a potential WWE contract and revealed that he is a fan of the legend.

“I was talking to WWE, talking to Triple H about my WWE contract. So we’re trying to make that happen. He knows I’m a fan of WWE and him and the brand.

He’s obviously a fan of what I bring to the table from an entertainment standpoint, what I can do on the microphone. So it’s always fun conversations. Who knows if anything is ever going to happen, but he knows I want that door to be open and I think he wants that door to be open too.”

Chandler previously appeared on the February 19, 2024, episode of Monday Night Raw, where he cut a promo from the crowd and called out Conor McGregor. Chandler and McGregor were rumored to fight since 2023. The fight was scheduled for UFC 303 last year, but fell through due to Conor’s injury.

The bigger picture

Since his arrival in UFC in 2021, Chandler intially saw some succes after defeating Dan Hooker in his debut fight as he got the vacant Lightweight title match against Charles Oliveira. Although he came close, Oliveira bounced back, defeating Chandler to win the title.

Since then, Chandler has struggled, only registering a single win against legend Tony Ferguson, who himself was on a three-fight losing streak. Chandler’s most recent loss against rising contender Paddy Pimblett has put a lot of questions in fans’ minds.

After a decorated career with multiple big wins and titles, Chandler decided to transition to pro wrestling and test his skills inside the squared circle. Chandler is already very entertaining in his UFC fights and also good on the microphone; he could use those skills to his advantage, joining the list of very few stars who have had successful crossovers.
