The WWE legend’s last WWE appearance was at Bad Blood 2024 PLE
WCW & WWE legend, Bill Goldberg is officially set to retire from professional wrestling in 2025. Many fans were speculating his return on the historic Monday Night Raw debut episode on Netflix which will emanate tonight from the Intuit Dome.
Contrary to fan’s expectations the WCW legend’s return has been delayed and is now slated for later this month, rather than tonight’s event. Goldberg’s last WWE appearance was the Bad Blood 2024 PLE, where he was involved in a heated face-off with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
However, his last in-ring appearance in the promotion was in 2022, at the Elimination Chamber PLE where he lost to the then Undisputed WWE Champion Roman Reigns. The OTC is scheduled to face Solo Sikoa tonight at the debut show in a tribal combat match where the Ula Fala is on the line.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the promotion plans to showcase major stars in upcoming episodes of the Red brand. Goldberg is set to appear on the January 27 show of the Red brand which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia.
Goldberg has a deep relationship with the city, having played for the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) in the 1990s and later becoming a top star in WCW. The WCW was an Atlanta-based organization that was one of the key competitors of the WWE and was later acquired by the Stamford-based promotion in 2001.
The Hall of Famer will likely wrestle in what would be his retirement match, one probable opponent would be ‘The Ring General’ Gunther. The promotion can use the Bad Blood 2024 PLE heated interaction between the two as the angle for this clash.
Vince McMahon promised Goldberg a proper retirement match in WWE
The WWE Hall of Famer had earlier revealed that WWE’s former boss Vince McMahon promised him a retirement match and a proper send-off. However, he never got any such match in the promotion until now.
During an appearance on the SEC Network, Goldberg revealed that his official retirement match will take place in 2025. He explained, “Here’s the deal: the big news is that according to three executives—Nick Khan, Chris Legentil, and Paul Levesque—Goldberg will have his retirement match in 2025!”
In recent times, since the exit of McMahon, there have been some changes as WWE legend Triple H is now in charge. This change has led to developments including his retirement match in the promotion.
