WWE are just a week away from hosting WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On this WrestleMania season, we take a look at one of the epic moments in the history of WrestleMania history, which was held exactly on the same day. In the same city, where this year’s WrestleMania is scheduled to take place.
On this day 25 years ago, WWE hosted WrestleMania XV at the First Union Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. WWE hosted a total of 12 matches in the show, one such match was The Undertaker vs The Big Boss Man. They both fought inside the Hell in a Cell as a part of one of the two main events, where Taker hanged Big Boss Man to bring the deadliest end to the match.
The Undertaker “hangs” Big Boss Man at WWE WrestleMania XV
The Hell in a Cell match started with Bigg Boss Man taking the initial control of The Undertaker with a series of punches and a swinging neck breaker. Taker soon changed the momentum by throwing Boss Man to the cell. As the match kept swinging both sides, Boss Man handcuffed Undertaker to the chain fence and blew his nightstick over him. Taker however broke the chained cuff, and hit him to the steel fence, after getting busted open on the forehead. Taker took the Boss man to the ring, hit a flying clothesline and a Tombstone Piledriver for the win.
After the match, Taker looked over the roof, raised his hands to the sky, where The Brood (Edge, Christian & Gangrel) jumped over the cell from a hanging rope. They broke the Cell’s top mesh and sent a hanging rope to The Undertaker. Taker tied the rope around Big Boss Man’s neck, Paul Bearer with the Cell’s control in hand, lifted the cell, to make the Boss Man hanging. After the match, the Boss Man was carried off on a stretcher for the medical emergency.
Other matches at WrestleMania XV
Other than The Undertaker vs Big Boss Man’s match, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock No Disqualification Match for the WWF Championship was held in the main event of the show. Other highlight matches of the show included, Shane McMahon vs X-Pac, Kane vs Triple H, Mankind vs Big Show, Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett vs D’Lo Brown & Test and much more.
