Cody Rhodes is out of action due to an injury
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been out of action since his last title defense at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14. The American Nightmare defended his title in the main event at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Collesium.
Cody Rhodes emerged victorious in the main event, but Owens launched a brutal assault on him afterward, delivering a devastating package piledriver. The champion was stretchered out of the arena following the vicious attack.
Owens walked away with the ‘Winged Eagle Title’ after the assault. The belt was being temporarily used by Cody for one night only, on loan from WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H.

Let us now take a look at three ways in which the American Nightmare can make his WWE return after recovering from the injury.
3. Cody Rhodes retaliates
The American Nightmare could make a shocking return, blindsiding Owens and exacting his revenge on the Prizefighter. Rhodes would then seize the title from KO, delivering a scathing promo to berate him.
This unexpected surprise attack would spark massive excitement among fans, further intensifying the storyline and setting the stage for another high-stakes match with KO. The attack would also shatter Owens’ belief that he is invincible and can attack anyone without consequences.
2. Confront Kevin Owens in the WWE Raw Netflix debut episode
The debut episode of Monday Night Raw is set for January 6 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Rhodes is being advertised for the debut show, but the injury might change his plans.
However, if Rhodes makes an appearance on the debut show it would not only make the event more grand but would also be the perfect way to confront Owens. The American Nightmare can use the bright lights and the roar from the audience to deliver a spine-tingling promo.
1. A match in the debut episode
The best way to make a comeback would be to step into the squared circle for a showdown, and what better opponent to face than Kevin Owens himself? The promotion could announce a rematch between the two in the debut episode, with the title on the line possibly even the ‘Winged Eagle Title.’
The high-stakes matches are already announced for the debut episode where Liv Morgan will defend her Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and CM Punk will lock horns with Seth Rollins in a grudge match.
A tribal combat match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa is also announced for the show where the sacred Ula Fala is on the line. The addition of Rhodes vs Owens with the title at stake would increase the excitement to another level.
