The Wiseman recently turned on his best friend at WrestleMania 41!

‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk completed his lifelong dream of main eventing WrestleMania this year while his ‘best friend’ kept his promise from a decade earlier and was in his corner for the triple-threat match where Punk battled Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

Amid tensions with Roman Reigns, who was left without his Wiseman to corner CM Punk, the match took place in the main event of WrestleMania 41 (Saturday). However, the emotions of main eventing his first Mania quickly turned to betrayal when Heyman turned on him.

Heyman turned on Punk, landing a low blow and then handing a steel chair to Reigns, who then battered the Second City Saint. While Reigns was beating down Punk, Heyman had another surprise up his sleeve as he then took out Reigns with a low blow and handed the steel chair to Rollins.

Heyman officially aligned with the Visionary, who then went on to win the triple-threat match. While fans were livid over the shocking betrayal, Punk wasn’t too surprised as he had been in the same situation before.

Paul Heyman turned on CM Punk in 2013 at Money in the Bank

Following his return after a two-month hiatus, CM Punk returned at Payback on June 16 and defeated Chris Jericho. This was the time the rift between him and Heyman started to show as Punk asked Heyman not to accompany him to his matches and was later attacked by Heyman’s other client, Brock Lesnar.

However, the betrayal was yet to come as Punk was about to climb the ladder and capture his third Money in the Bank briefcase, Heyman stepped into the ring and started battering Punk with the steel ladder. The attack cost Punk the match as he declared war on Heyman on the next episode of Monday Night Raw.

Although Punk was unable to get his hands on Paul Heyman as his client, Brock Lesnar appeared and attacked Punk, which led to a No Disqualification match between Punk and Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam. Punk was about to pin Lesnar when Heyman once again interfered, costing him the match.

The feud with Heyman continued over the following months, leading to a clash with his other client, Curtis Axel. At Night of Champions on September 15, Punk faced Axel and Heyman in a no-disqualification, two-on-one handicap elimination match.

Punk made Axel submit, leaving only Heyman, but an interference from Ryback cost him the match as he was put through a table. The feud finally culminated at Hell in a Cell 2013, where Punk faced both Heyman and Ryback in a two-on-one handicap Hell in a Cell match.

Punk had to go through Ryback to get his hands on Heyman, who rode a forklift to climb to the top of the steel cage. After taking care of Ryback, Punk confronted Heyman and was battered with a kendo stick before kissing him on the head and delivering a GTS to the Wiseman on top of the cell after the match.
