WWE is one of the biggest professional wrestling promotions in the world, which has been producing world-class shows and stars. WrestleMania is the biggest wrestling event that the company has ever produced and has been setting the standard for other events.
The event has witnessed almost everything including the great moments, iconic matches, big championship wins, twists, turns, recreations, coincidences, ups and downs, and so on. The company has produced 40 WrestleMania events so far, however WrestleMania 37 was something unique as its main event matches seem to be cursed.
WrestleMania 37 curse
WrestleMania 37 was one of the most anticipated WrestleManias of all time with the return of the WWE Universe post-COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. The show witnessed decent match cards showcasing some of the best matches.
On Night 1 of the WrestleMania 37 main event, Sasha Banks defended her WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship against the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner Bianca Belair. It was the first time two African-American Wrestlers headlined WrestleMania. During the final moments of the match, Belair delivered a Kiss of Death on Sasha Banks to win the match and become the SmackDown Women’s Champions for the very first time.
On Night 2 of the WrestleMania 37 main event, Roman Reigns defended his Universal Championship against the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Edge, and 2021 Men’s Elimination Chamber winner Daniel Bryan in a Triple Threat Match. Roman Reigns won the match with the help of Jey Uso by pinning both his opponents stacked over each other to retain his championship.
Both the main event matches received the top ratings of the show and was praised as one of the best matches in the show. However it seems like both the main event matches were cursed.
It is important to note that the persons who lost the main event matches, Sasha Banks, Edge & Daniel Bryan ended their career with WWE and moved to AEW. However, both the winners, Roman Reigns & Bianca Belair went on to have one of the dominant championship reigns in WWE history.
Belair held the Raw Women’s Championship for 420 days, which is the longest Women’s Championship reign in the history of WWE. On the other hand, Roman Reigns held the Universal Championship for 1316 days, which is the fourth longest title reign in the history of the company.
