Bianca Belair has been in athletic sports for a long time before rising above as the EST of WWE

Bianca Belair has emerged as one of the most compelling and dynamic WWE superstars of this generation. Coming from an athletics background and being a talent recruit of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, Belair has lived up to her full potential and become a cornerstone of WWE’s women’s division.

The EST joined WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, back in 2016, spending close to four years to perfect her craft. In 2020, she was called up to the main roster and became a part of the SmackDown.

Impressively, she won the Royal Rumble match and main event WrestleMania, in her first year only. Since then, Belair has won multiple championships and accolades in her career.

However, before becoming a megastar, Bianca Belair had a completely different choice of sport that would eventually set the tone for her rise as a bonafide WWE superstar.

What was Bianca Belair’s past sporting history before becoming a WWE superstar?

Bianca Belair was part of her High School track team, being a hurdler and sprinter. Her sporting time earned her a scholarship to the University of South Carolina, spending a year there to complete Texas A&M University and then coming back home to complete her education at the University of Tennessee.

While at South Carolina and Texas A&M, she primarily focused on the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. Her performance in these events was strong enough to gain her national recognition.

Being a part of athletics since the age of five, she wanted to rise above as a top athlete. But she was soon finding herself facing eating disorders.

Once she recovered from them and with the help of her coaches, Bianca Belair became all-SEC and all-American competing in 100-meter hurdles, the 400-meter hurdles, and the 4×400 meter relay and soon started practicing cross-fit, competing at the regional level.

Unfortunately, her Track and Field career was cut short due to recurring injuries, particularly her battles with shifting rib syndrome.

However, her impressive time as an athlete opened her doors to WWE in 2016, and she went on to become one of the most popular WWE superstars of the modern era.
