The 16-time WWE World Champion shocked everyone with his heel turn recently
After failing to win the men’s Royal Rumble, John Cena announced his official entry into the 2025 men’s Elimination Chamber match. Cena vowed to win the match and punch his ticket to WrestleMania to win the 17th World title of his career.
Cena entered the Chamber match at the namesake PLE on March 1 at the Rogers Center in Toronto. The 16-time World Champion outlasted everyone and locked in the STF on CM Punk to win the Chamber match and punch his ticket to Mania.
As the celebration began, Cody Rhodes came down to the ring, shaking Cena’s hand in a sign of respect. But then… the mood shifted. The Rock’s music hit, and to everyone’s surprise, Travis Scott carrying the WWE Hardcore Championship walked out alongside him. As they entered the ring, The Rock once again demanded that Cody embrace him as a brother and champion. If not, he warned, “The Dream dies again.”
However, Rhodes declined the offer and declared that his soul belonged to the ring and the WWE Universe, then looked The Rock in the eye and told him, “Hey Rock, go f*** yourself!” The crowd erupted, and even John Cena seemed to approve at least for a moment.
Then, out of nowhere, Cena struck. A shocking low blow to Cody sent the champion crashing to the mat. What followed was a brutal beatdown which left Rhodes bloodied and gasping for air as Cena, along with The Rock, posed for the camera.
John Cena will be absent from Raw and SmackDown for two weeks
After turning heel, Cena attended the post-match press conference where he dropped the mic and left without saying anything. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson then arrived at the press conference and provided updates on Cena’s plans after the Chamber PLE.
Johnson revealed that Cena has flown in directly from Budapest where he has been shooting his movie and is now set to miss two weeks of Raw and SmackDown after the Chamber PLE. The Rock also revealed that Cena will be travelling to Africa, however, he did not disclose the reason for the trip.
Despite turning heel for the first time in his long and illustrious career, John Cena will be absent from the coming two weeks of Raw and SmackDown. Cena is scheduled to appear on the 17th March episode of Raw in Brussels, Belgium.
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is also advertised for the show by the promotion. Fans are now eagerly waiting for the next chapter in this feud as the storyline between Rhodes and Cena unfolds ahead of the WrestleMania PLE.
