Cody Rhodes made his return at WWE SNME May 2025

Tonight’s (Saturday, May 24, 2025) Saturday Night’s Main Event special on NBC from the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, featured Jey Uso defending his world heavyweight title against Logan Paul.

This came after a backstage argument with WWE Champion John Cena, who hinted at getting involved in the bout to promote his objective of wrecking professional wrestling.

They didn’t have much time to work with given the limits of the TV special, but they made the most of it. Then, as Cena predicted, he showed up to attack the World Heavyweight Champion. However, it turned out to be a set-up for Cody Rhodes‘ long-awaited comeback, who wasn’t seen since WrestleMania 41.

With Rhodes fending off Cena, Uso defeated Paul and retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rhodes then challenged Paul and Cena for WWE Money in the Bank against him and Uso in a tag team match.

When was last that Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso teamed up in WWE?

Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso have formed an on-and-off alliance since October 2023, and every time they’ve joined forces, it’s made headlines.

Their partnership officially kicked off at WWE Fastlane on October 7, 2023, when they shocked the world by defeating The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.

Their reign lasted just nine days, ending on the October 16 episode of Raw, when Bálor and Priest regained the gold.

In the weeks that followed, Cody and Jey defended their titles successfully across TV and live events, taking down the likes of Imperium, Alpha Academy, and even Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn before eventually falling short in their rematch with The Judgment Day.

Their most high-profile reunion came at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 25, 2023. Teaming with Seth “Freakin” Rollins, Sami Zayn, and a returning Randy Orton, Rhodes and Uso helped deliver a statement win over Drew McIntyre and The Judgment Day inside the brutal WarGames structure.

They also teamed up in a six-man dark match on the November 8, 2024 edition of SmackDown, where Rhodes, Uso, and Zayn defeated Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and Ludwig Kaiser. But their most recent official tag team outing took place on the February 7, 2025 edition of SmackDown, when they defeated The Bloodline’s Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga in Memphis, Tennessee.

Now, with tensions boiling over once again thanks to John Cena’s interference in Jey Uso’s recent title defense against Logan Paul, Cody Rhodes made a surprise appearance to even the odds. After cleaning house, “The American Nightmare” laid down the challenge: he and Jey are ready to reunite one more time, this time against Cena and Paul at Money in the Bank.

Nearly five months since their last official tag match, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso are once again set to stand side by side and this time, Cody looks ready.
