‘Mami’ had to relinquish her Women’s World Championship due to injury

Rhea Ripley is one of the most dominant and powerful WWE star, who has been having a great run in the main roster. She is a five-time Champion and the Fifth Women’s GrandSlam Champion. Ripley at WrestleMania 40 defended her Women’s World Championship against Becky Lynch and successfully retained the title to officially surpass one year title reign. 

However within two weeks of one of her biggest Mania win, Ripley was forced to relinquish the title ending her reign at 380 days after shoulder dislocation. She has been absent from television for over 50 days and there is no update on her return timeline. Here is what we know about Rhea Ripley’s WWE return timeline.

Rhea Ripley’s return timeline

AEW Star Buddy Matthews, who is the fiance of Rhea Ripley, recently posted a workout video on his Instagram account. The video featured Buddy Mathews and the former Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley working out in the gym. This reveals that Ripley has started her gym session after injury and is possibly nearing her WWE return.

Earlier this week, the WWE-AEW couple spotted training with the Australian Independent Wrestlers Eli Theseus and Gabriel Aeros at The Dark Arts Pro Wrestling & Muay Thai Gym, which is owned by another WWE-AEW couple Zelina Vega & Malakai Black.

Although WWE has not provided any official information about Ripley’s return so far, backstage rumors suggest that Mami could be back in action around early August 2024 on the road to the greatest event of the summer, SummerSlam 2024.

What happened in the absence of Mami?

In the absence of Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch was crowned as the Women’s World Champion with a Battle Royal on Raw. Weeks after her victory, Liv Morgan won the title at King and Queen of the Ring PLE, as a result of a botched move by Rhea’s Latino Heat Dominik Mysterio. Dominik again with an unfortunate help made Liv retain the Women’s World Championship, resulting in Liv kissing Dominik Mysterio.

Liv Morgan on her recent appearance on Raw, claimed that the Liv Morgan revenge tour is not only taking Rhea Ripley’s champion, but also Rhea Ripley’s boy Dominik Mysterio. An internal tension between the Judgment Day is making the storyline set for Rhea Ripley’s return.
