The Rock suffered an elbow injury during the filming of his recent movie, ‘The Smashing Machine.’

The Rock is one of the most renowned celebrities in sports and entertainment. The Great One was a prevalent fixture for WWE on the road to WrestleMania 40 earlier this year and even returned to in-ring action at The Show of Shows. He was a part of the tag team showdown in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night 1, where The Rock and Roman Reigns defeated the dynamic duo of Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes.

Following the conclusion of WrestleMania 40, The Rock announced his hiatus to attend to his other commitments, one of which is the new film he is currently shooting, “The Smashing Machine.” The movie is a biopic of former UFC Champion Mark Kerr, with The Final Boss essaying his role.

The Rock has been spotted training inside the octagon in preparation for the role and looked unrecognizable after dropping the first look. However, The Final Boss recently encountered a setback after announcing he had sustained an elbow injury.

The Rock’s intense training regime for the movie caused the injury that he showed on Instagram. But in a follow-up post, The Rock announced that there was no extensive tissue damage, while his ruptured bursa sac would eventually heal up and that he was ready to start filming again, quoting “back to work” in his latest post. The film is expected to be released later this year.

When will The Rock return to WWE?

As The Rock continues to heal 100% from his injury and pursue outside projects, including wrapping up the production of The Smashing Machine, there have been speculations surrounding his WWE return. Reports indicate that The Rock would either make his comeback around SummerSlam or return around the road to WrestleMania 41.

The Great One is expected to battle Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title upon his return after hinting at their future showdown in their final encounter on the RAW after WrestleMania 40.

So it will be interesting to see his resurgence once again into the WWE landscape, which generated staggering business and numbers for the global juggernaut earlier this year.
