WWE began to refer to all PPV events as PLE in 2022.

The Stamford-based promotion began airing Pay-Per-View (PPV) events in the 1980s, starting with its iconic “Big Four” shows, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series.

The first-ever PPV was WrestleMania in 1985. By the mid-1990s, the company expanded its PPV offerings to a monthly schedule. In 2022, WWE began to refer to all PPV events as Premium Live Events (PLE). The PLE scheduled year-by-year has only grown with the ever-expanding schedule.

While multiple platforms, including WWE Network, have streamed the PLE since early January, Netflix started to broadcast WWE PLEs in many international markets. On the other hand, in the United States, Peacock was the home for PLEs until Clash in Paris, which concluded on August 31, 2025.

WWE PLEs now have a new home in the United States

Beginning September 20 with the inaugural Wrestlepalooza PLE, WWE Premium Live Events will stream on ESPN in the US. The platform will become the exclusive home for main roster PLEs from September 20, 2025.

ESPN’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) service will stream all main-roster Premium Live Events (PLEs) annually, including full coverage and select simulcasts on ESPN’s linear platforms. Major PLEs like WrestleMania, SummerSlam (both two-night events), Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank will be available to all ESPN DTC subscribers with the unlimited plan.

ESPN’s new DTC streaming service and enhanced features launched on the ESPN App on Thursday, August 21.

WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025

The Stamford-based promotion is currently preparing for the first Premium Live Event on ESPN. The first-ever Wrestlepalooza will kick off the ESPN era this weekend. The event is set for Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana

The name Wrestlepalooza was originally used for an ECW event series that ran from 1995 to 2000. Its most prominent edition was the 1998 pay-per-view, headlined by Shane Douglas defending the ECW World Heavyweight Championship against Al Snow.

Multiple big names, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, AJ Lee, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, and Seth Rollins, among others, are set to compete on the show.
