Kevin Owens is forced to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship
Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa in the Bloodline rules match. Cody had a hard time struggling with The Bloodline’s attack during the mid-match. Kevin Owens & Randy Orton helped Cody in the mid-match, however, Jacob Fatu took Rhodes to the limit, giving Solo the upper hand. However, Roman Reigns made his WWE return and helped Cody to win the match.
After the successful title defense, most of them wondered who could be the next opponent for Cody Rhodes at Bash in Berlin. At this stage, Rhodes’ next opponent for Bash in Berlin is confirmed on WWE SmackDown this week.
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin
On the August 09, 2024, episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes kicked off the show by addressing his SummerSlam match and was about to reveal his Bash in Berlin opponent. Solo Sikoa interrupted Cody Rhodes and said that he took Cody to the limit at SummerSlam, and if it was not Roman Reigns, he would’ve been the champion at this time.
Solo then asked for a rematch for the undisputed title, but Cody cut him off. Cody asked Solo to earn a title shot from now on, as he lost the match which took place in the Bloodline terms. Solo then went to attack Cody with Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa, but Kevin Owens with a couple of chairs made the Bloodline retreat.
Cody asked Owens to stay in the ring and thanked him for having his back and he wanted to return the favor by offering him a title shot at Bash in Berlin. Owens regretted the offer saying that he doesn’t deserve a title shot, as he didn’t earn it. WWE Universe and Cody said that no one is more deserving than Owens, remembering why Owens is a Prize Fighter, but Owens still regretted it. Cody said that he would find Nick Aldis and convince him for the match and the next time they met, the match would be confirmed for Bash in Berlin.
Later on in the same show, Owens and Cody met Nick Aldis about the match. Owens said that he doesn’t want the title, and Aldis said that if he doesn’t, he would give the title shot to Roman Reigns. Owens said that both he and Roman don’t deserve a title shot, as they didn’t earn that.
With Cody’s insistence and Nick Aldis finding it fair, the match between Rhodes & Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship was made official for Bash in Berlin on August 31, 2024.
