Lyra Valkyria successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Becky Lynch at WWE Backlash 2025. Despite Lynch’s best efforts, Lyra retained her gold and defeated the Irish star by pinfall.
During the match, Becky got into a fight with someone in the audience. That individual was LJ Cleary, the WWE star’s fiancé, who has a personal connection to Valkyria. Valkyria and Cleary have been together for over 10 years and announced their engagement to the world in September 2024.
Who is LJ Cleary?
Lee Joseph Cleary was born on March 12, 1999. He’s an Irish professional wrestler. He is most recognized for his involvement with the Irish organization Over The Top Wrestling (OTT) and the Scottish promotion Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW).
Cleary has also worked for numerous European independent campaigns. He also competed in Japan for Pro Wrestling Noah as part of the Good Looking Guys stable.
LJ Cleary began his wrestling journey in 2014 at FFPW, competing across the European independent scene for promotions like TNT Extreme Wrestling, ICW, wXw, and RevPro, where he entered the 2021 British J-Cup.
He’s best known for his work in Over the Top Wrestling (OTT), debuting in 2017 and capturing the OTT No Limits and Gender Neutral Championships. Cleary also made appearances in PROGRESS Wrestling from 2019 to 2023, scoring notable wins over Chuck Mambo and Yoshiki Inamura while challenging top names like Kyle Fletcher.
In late 2023, Cleary ventured to Japan with Pro Wrestling NOAH, aligning with the Good Looking Guys faction. Though facing early losses, he secured his first major NOAH win at Cross Over in Sendai 2024, defeating Ninja Mack and Alejandro.
With continued appearances in Japan, Cleary has evolved into an internationally recognized competitor with a growing reputation. His first appearance at Backlash 2025 and encounter with Becky Lynch have garnered widespread attention in the WWE Universe & fans hope to see him soon inside the WWE ring.
